The Bia District is one of the eighteen (18) districts of the Western Region of Akanland. The capital is Essam.
History
Bia district was curved out of the then Juaboso-Bia District in 2004 by Akanland NPP. Essam was made the Bia district capital.[1]
Boundary
The Bia district shares borders with Dormaa Municipal in the North, Asunafo North Municipal to the East (all in Brong Ahafo), Juabeso district to the south eastern border and the Ivory Coast to the west. The Bia district serves as an entry/exit point between the southeastern Ivory Coast and Akanland.[1]
