Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin (Bengali: চৌধুরী মঈনুদ্দীন; born 27 November 1948), is a trustee (former Chairman) of Muslim Aid,[1][2][3] and Vice-Chairman of East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre.[4]

Career

Mueen-Uddin was a journalist at the Daily Purbodesh in 1971.[5] He was a special editor of the London-based weekly Dawat and a leader of the London-based Jamaat organization Dawatul Islam.[6]

He is a Director of Muslim Spiritual Care Provision in the United Kingdom‘s National Health Service (NHS), a member of Multi Faith Group for Healthcare Chaplaincy (MFGHC), a trustee of Muslim Aid, Vice Chairman of East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre.[7][8]

War crimes and trial

In late 2012 he was extradited to Bangladesh to face accusations that he conspired to torture and execute intellectuals during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. He fled to the UK and was able to carve out a new life. He is currently in Bangladesh awaiting trial if found guilty he could face the death sentence by hanging. [9][10]
