Dancing with the Stars will return for its sixteenth season. Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke Charvet are expected to return as hosts. The Harold Wheeler orchestra and singers will also return to provide the music throughout the season. The season is set to premiere on March 18, 2013, with the first results show airing on March 26, 2013.[1]
Couples
The cast of eleven and their professional partners was announced on February 26, 2013 on Good Morning America.[2][3] Derek Hough, Cheryl Burke, Tony Dovolani, Kym Johnson, Karina Smirnoff, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Mark Ballas, and Tristan MacManus are returning to compete as professional dancers this season. Val's brother Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Chelsie Hightower, Louis van Amstel, Anna Trebunskaya, and Peta Murgatroyd will not be returning. A first time since season 12 with only one Chmerkovskiy brother participating, as season 11 remains as the only first-out-of-five-season-appearance of Maksim. Although before-confirmed professional partners, it was rumored Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Derek Hough, Cheryl Burke, and Tony Dovolani may not return this season, but Maks only followed it. Lindsay Arnold, a contestant from the ninth season of So You Think You Can Dance will be introduced as a new professional along with Troupe member Sharna Burgess and Gleb Savchenko, who recently participated as a professional on the twelfth season of the Australian version of Dancing with the Stars.
