The Graphics Lab is a project to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. Requests for image improvements can be added to the workshop pages: Illustrations, Photographs and Maps. For questions or suggestions one can use the talk pages: Talk:Graphics Lab, Talk:Illustrations, Talk:Photographs and Talk:Maps.
This specific page is the requests page for the illustration workshop. Anyone can make a request for an illustration to be improved or created for a Wikipedia article. Clicking the "New Request" button will bring you to a standard template for submitting requests, as well as general advice that should be followed.

Advice to requesters

All requests:

Please make sure your request is "legitimate" by copyright. If the image(s) are in the public domain or freely licensed, you are fine. If the image(s) are "Fair use", there are only certain things we can do with them without falling afoul of Wikipedia's fair-use policies.
- If you are requesting assistance with a copyright or fair-use image, don't display it on this page; place {{GLNF|Example.png|caption|align=left}} to create a link to it. Do not add the File: extension. Our fair-use policy does not allow displaying fair-use images out of their articles on ANY account.
Please check back regularly to see if progress has been made or if any additional questions need to be answered before the request can be completed.
If a request is done to your satisfaction, please mark it with {{resolved}}.

SVG requests:

Make sure your request can actually BE vectorized. Note that vector drawings are not suitable for certain applications. We generally use SVG format for icons, logos, drawings, maps, flags, and such. Certain things, photographs especially, are totally impossible to vectorize.
Per our non-free content policy, vectorization of copyrighted images is not permitted. If a vectorized non-free image is desired, seek out such an image from the copyright holder.

To see what a poi dog looked like, scroll to the bottom of the article poi dog where it says "external links" and click on that link, which will take you to page 33 of the book "Domestication". Then scroll all the way down to the bottom of that page 33 to a drawing of four dogs. It's the one on the bottom right. Ok, now another drawing, this one from National Geographic: http://blogs.ngm.com/blog_central/2009/07/new-dogs-have-their-day-old-ones-fade-away.html, scroll down to the bottom and find this picture here: http://blogs.ngm.com/.a/6a00e00982269188330115714d621f970c-pi. Ok, now you know what a poi dog looked like. Now draw another. Draw your own picture of a poi dog and upload it and place it into the article Poi dog. Strangely for someone who's promoting a national flag design, that link states that this flag has a registered copyright and can't be produced without permission. And while I don't think it's eligible for copyright, the fact is still that it's registered, and it's better to upload it on WP (not on Commons) with a fair use rational.
