Politics & YouTube In Review
[edit]Politics & YouTube In Review was an idea from original WWPM staff in 2004 that debuted on Wordpress on November 20, 2006, which is WWPM's longest-lasting publication. PYIR was created as part of the launch of the company's new media division.
The Difficulty To Get Traffic
[edit]Early on, WWPM writers had struggles in getting readers after promoting on sites such as MSN and Yahoo, and on YouTube, Facebook and MySpace accounts of the writers. After tons of attempts, PYIR managed to reach 1,000 page views in January 2007. The difficulty would soon fade away when and tons of attempts to get readers, from MSN to YouTube and from Facebook to MySpace. In January 2007, PYIR reached 1,000 page views and the climbs soon starting to increase. PYIR editors set landmarks to be reached by August of 2,500 and 5,000 page views, but those levels would be long surpassed by June when the blog reached 7,500 page views. It became one of the fastest growing blogs in 2007.
PYIR's one-day record is 604 page views set in February 2007, a post sparked by the interest of those impacted by the elimination of Chief Illiniwek to the Fighting Illini sports program of the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois by the Illinois State Board of Trustees.
PYIR Tri-State, Nationwide & North American Tour
[edit]The PYIR Nationwide Tour was launched in early 2008, promoting the blog from coast to coast across the United States. Only Leonard has done all four trips nationwide. In 2009, two tours will be scheduled:
- August 16 - September 9: Begins in Chicago, Illinois and ends in Miami, Florida.
- November 5 - November 29: Begins in Washington, D.C. and ends in Seattle, Washington.
In late 2008, the Tri-State Tour, which included Illinois, Missouri and Iowa, launched. Leonard has covered all three states, while associate editor-in-chief Trevor Gordon has covered Illinois. One tour is slated in 2009:
- October 4 - October 30: Begins in Metropolis, Illinois and ends in Des Moines, Iowa.
In January 2010, a North American tour is slated:
- January 22 - March 11: Begins in Toronto, Ontario and ends in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Sponsors for the PYIR tours and PYIR SportsCenter Tour will be well appreciated.

Past Controversies
[edit]La Grange, MO Special Election of 2007
- Leonard, editor-in-chief of PYIR, is currently following the special October 8, 2007 mayoral election to fill in the vacant spot that resigning mayor Tim Rossiter vacated late in August 2007. Leonard is attacking mayoral candidate and former mayor Jerry Brandt, stating that his campaign is only based on firing the main three officers who arrest him: Rick Davis, Larry "Don" Gibson and Don Cibert. Leonard continues the attack by saying that former councilwoman Rita Farr-Cox would be a better mayor than Brandt. Farr-Cox is not running for this term. The Farr-Cox/Brandt conflict was arose again when Farr-Cox and Brandt were in Lewis County, Missouri Circuit Court in Monticello, Missouri over a case construed as harrassment. Leonard called for Brandt's withdrawal from the race. Leonard has continued attacks on Brandt, but there has been no response from Brandt's website since September 13, 2007. Leonard is also partially attacking candidates Mike Hudnut and Ron Powers. Declaring that Hudnut "knows nothing of this city and has no agenda for La Grange" and Powers' agenda "is only to make sure that taxes are lowered". Leonard officially said on the blog on September 17, 2007 and again the following day and on September 24, 2007 that he will be an unofficial candidate for mayor. His name will have to be written on the ballot, as it is too late to register for candidacy. When Leonard heard of a pending lawsuit, all posts and links have been washed from the PYIR database. Leonard will be voting for Ronnie Powers or he'll still write his name in.
Contributor Credibility
- In 2008, Leonard and PYIR also argued on Kevin Nalty's discussion that he should be credited as assistant editor of the blog, but it was deemed as not newsworthy. In August 2008, he makes a post regarding this matter and apologizes for the confusion.
PYIR SportsCenter
[edit]PYIR SportsCenter (otherwise known as PYIR SC) would branch off of Politics & YouTube In Review's most popular section. In 2007, this blog would arise from the ashes as become one of the top 300 sports blogs in America and become the second publication in WWPM's new media division.
In the upcoming online television station WWPM-TV, PYIR SportsCenter will have two shows in production:
- PYIR SportsCenter: Mondays-Wednesdays-Fridays, 10:35 PM - 11:35 PM (CST)

PYIR SportsCenter will broadcast on WNTM-OR from 4-7 PM CST starting June 19, 2010.
