Tyler Oakley (born March 22, 1989) is an American vlogger and YouTube personality[1]. He began making videos in 2007;[2] his first video has received over 70,000 views on YouTube.[3] Since uploading his first video, he has received over 45,000,000 video views and gained over 740,000 subscribers.[4]

Tyler is popular among pop-culture lovers, and he posts regularly on several social networking sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram.[4] A self-described "professional fangirl", Oakley is a fan of Darren Criss and British-Irish boy band, One Direction [5]

Career

Tyler has worked as a content creator for YouTube since 2007. Since March 2013, he also co-hosts a weekly pop-culture news update – "Top That!" – with Becca Frucht for PopSugar.[2][6]

Tyler Oakley has done significant work for The Trevor Project, interning with them, hosting a red carpet event for them and raising money in support of them.[7][8] He has also interned at EMC | Bowery. Other ventures include working as as resident mentor, teacher's assistant, and product marketer/developer at Michigan State University; and as the social media and communication manager at Chictopia and director of social media at Good Ideas for Good Causes.[2]
