Transportation in the Building

Removed this section. It needed a fair amount of editing, was located in the wrong place at the very bottom of the article, and did not present any new or fresh information. The elevator / transportation arrangements in most high-rise buildings would be the same -- this information was not notable. SabreWolfy 21:55, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tallest Residential Building in the Southern Hemisphere?

I don't think so. Not according to this article -> Click!.

I think the Q1 Tower is the tallest residential building in the world, and is in Australia, which is also in the southern hemisphere... last time I checked, anyway. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.209.77.64 (talk) 15:46, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not Strydom Tower?

The Hillbrow Tower was originally named the Strydom (or JG Strijdom) Tower. I don't recall the Ponte Building bearing this name 139.163.138.12 (talk) 08:19, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I recall being told the building was originally to have been called Harrow Heights. The story goes that Portuguese construction workers (Only Europeans workers were allowed in construction back then) referred to their workplace as being near the "bridge" - ponte. I cannot find any verification for this, so I'll leave it here in the Discussion section in case someone else can source it.213.173.165.130 (talk) 13:26, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hillbrow?

When I lived there, in the 1970s, Ponte was widely regarded as being located in Berea, not Hillbrow. 122.106.177.130 (talk) 07:57, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
