Andres Ponce Ruíz (born September 1, 1989, Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico) is an undefeated Mexican professional boxer in the Heavyweight division.[1] Ruíz is signed to Bob Arum's Top Rank promotions.[2][3]
Amateur career
During his amateur career, Ruíz ran his record to 104-8 under Cuban trainer Fernando Ferrer. He went on to win two Mexican National Junior Olympics gold medals and won the World Ringside Heavyweight Championship. Andy represented Mexico in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games qualifying.[4]
Professional career
The Mexican Heavyweight has famed Freddie Roach in his corner and at the Wild Card Gym. He has sparred with former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Andrei Arlovski.[5]
Ruiz only needed one round to destroy his opponent Luke Vaughn from Aledo, Texas with a body shot. Vaughn went down hard and would be counted out by the referee.[6]
