History

The teams from Divizia C

The 1980s

In summer 1979, CS Botoșani was promoted to Divizia B, and at the end of the 1979/1980 season, they obtained the highest position (3rd); that had heretofore not been reached by any football team from Botoșani. After that performance, the team declined, occupying places in the middle of the league, reaching in the ending of '80s near relegation. CS Botoșani remained in Divizia B for 11th seasons, the most seasons spent by a football team from Botoșani, after that at the ending of 1989/1990 season the team was relegated to Divizia C.

Recent years

The new Fotbal Club Botoșani was founded in 2001 by Mr. Salavastru and it is now the only team that represents the city of Botoșani in the Romanian Divizia B. The first participation of the new club was in Divizia C, Serie I. This happened in 2001, after the foundation of the club. In their first season FC Botoșani missed the promotion in the Divizia B, occupying the second place after the ending of 2001/2002 regular season. The finish of the next season found the team in the sixth place, and then, the team obtained the promotion in the summer of 2004 year. In 2005 the president of Administration Council, Valeriu Iftimie, take over the main projects of the club after the French example. In this way the first team plays in Divizia B, the second team, formed with youngsters, plays in third league. Also, the club has a Centre for children and youths who are prepared for the future of the first team.

The seasons in Divizia B

FC Botoșani participed in the second division of the Romanian football for two seasons until now. In the 2004/2005 season, the team engaged the 8th place, and now the team is on the 4th place after Ceahlǎul Piatra-Neamț, Forex Brașov and FC Brașov.

Since 2005/2006 season, the matches of FC Botoșani are transmitted live on the radio. For the first time in Botoșani, games are broadcast on Radio AS wherever a match is being played. Until the beginning of the season, not even a radio station transmitted live, complete and indifferently of the appointed place an official match played by FC Botoșani.

Colours and badge

The FC Botoșani colours are red, white and blue. The home kit was generally white with a bit of red, but there are matches when the colour of the kit is blue.

FC Botoșani plays its home matches at the Municipal Stadium located near the centre of the city.

Supporters

The fans of FC Botoșani are organized under the name of "Dark Hooligans".
