Prestigious, important etc
Please refrain from making claims to greatness and prestige. Such claims are, even when properly sourced, highly unnencyclopedic (and also don't follow Neural POV). Reputable sources don't justify such claims. There are also plenty of such press snippets on just about all other schools in the world, yet their wiki pages don't read like a self-promoting prospectus packet. Even the pages on the Juilliard School, the Royal Academy of Music or the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna don't even bare any self-promotion... See the wikipedia pages on Juilliard, Royal Academy, Vienna University of the Arts, Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler or Curtis Institute for examples of model neutral pages on leading conservatoires. Let's try to keep this article neutral. Thank you. --Karljoos (talk) 09:25, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- I turned the article into a stub because major portions of it were lifted from the school's website. NPOV still applies. tedder (talk) 23:16, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
Why? why?
To whom it may concern:
I have tried to add Mr. Ory Shihor, co-chair of the Colburn School piano department and Dean of the Young Artist Academy, to the "Notable faculty" section of The Colburn School article. Another user, believe it or not an administrator, has repeatedly tried his or her best to remove his name from this article. This individual is not trying to accomplish anything; he or she is trying to harm rather than build.
Ory Shihor is a notable pianist. See WP:MUSICBIO Criteria for musicians' notability. Mr. Shihor meets criterion # 9 for sure, and no discussion or arguments of any type will change this fact.
Young Concert Artists International Auditions has launched the piano careers of some of the worlds leading pianists, including Murray Perahia. Anyone whose profession is in the piano field will obviously know that Perahia is one of the world's leading concert pianists today. Emanuel Ax and Richard Goode are two other pianists who have also won this competition. Mr. Shihor was the winner of this competition in 1986. This competition is definitely a "major music competition". Even Mr. Shihor's name is on the Young Concert Artists article.
Mr. Shihor is also the winner of the Washington International Piano Competition. He has placed in the Cleveland International Piano Competition and Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition. All three of these competitions are also major music competitions.
Mr. Shihor also meets # 1 of the criteria based on my understanding. Here is just a pinch of some reliable sources about him.

I tried to create an article about Mr. Shihor more than once. It was deleted for reasons other than his notability. If someone could give me assistance, creating an article about Mr. Shihor can be very easy.
There are other two other notable piano faculty members that could have a mention in this article. John Perry, former chair of piano department who has retired, and Dr. Myong Joo Lee. I, however, will not add them until it is clear Mr. Shihor can have his name on this article.
I have re-added Mr. Shihor to the list. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE HIM AGAIN.Lac47 (talk) 00:42, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Write the article first. Please start an article at User:Lac47/Ory Shihor. Remember that we are a free content encyclopedia so we cannot accept text quoted verbatim from, or that is a close paraphrase of, the source. I can help you with the article once you start it. - I've started the article for you at the link provided. Feel free to work on it there, and I'll help out as I get time. Ryan Vesey 00:59, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hello. I am fine with that. I hope we can work together to create something that is fine. Thank you.Lac47 (talk) 01:06, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
Adding to notable alumni
I don't mean to be THAT person, but it's rather well documented that performer Emilie Autumn attended this school. May she be added to the list?
