"Mom and Dad" is the tenth episode of the ninth season of the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, and the 194th episode overall.

Plot

Barney's father Jerome arrives and wants to see him back together with his mother, but James has other ideas. Meanwhile, an important wedding-related duty is messed up and Ted is blamed.

Continuity

Zabka gets back at Ted for stealing the best man position from him which brings on Lily's second tackle.

It is again referenced that James's Father is a minister, who comes to Barney and Robins aid to officiate the wedding since their previous minister passed.

Critical reception

Bill Kuchman of Popculturology singled out the lack of The Mother as the show's biggest problem now, saying, "Once we’ve seen The Mother, and with every additional time she’s in an episode, it becomes harder to go back to an episode that she’s not in." ^[1]
