The MS Wissenschaft is an exhibition ship in Germany. It is named after Wissenschaft, the German language term for any study or science that involves systematic research and teaching.

Use as an exhibition ship

History

In 2002 the University of Bremen hired a cargo ship called the "Geoschiff", which was used as a floating exhibition on geoscience[1] for six months.[2] Due to the success of this, the MS Wissenschaft has been used as a science exhibition ship every summer since 2003. During the exhibition, the ship visits around 30 cities, including cities such as Passau, Kiel, Stuttgart and Magdeburg.[1]
