Ancient History

During Ramayan times, there is a story in Ramcharitamanas that Sita Devi (wife of Lord Ram) after being left in jungle by Lord Rama, stayed in Valmiki Muni ashram, gave birth to Lav-Kush and during this phase only Sita devi walked bare foot in some areas. Goddess Laxmi gave her ashirwad and said that all those areas where goddess Sita has walked bare foot will become bangaram (Gold). Hence the name of the area bangarpet. Supporting facts—There is an evidence of gold in the Kolar Gold Fields and gold is found nowhere in else in India.
