Vikaspedia is an online information guide launched by the Government of India.[2][3] The website established by Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, is built as a portal for the social sectors, is present in 5 languages, English, Assamese, Telugu, Hindi and Marathi.[4]

It was started on 18 February 2014 and currently has information in the sectors of health, agriculture, education, social welfare, energy and e-governance.[5] The name of the portal is a portmanteau of the words Vikas (Hindi for "Development") and encyclopedia. The uniqueness of the portal is providing information in local languages in all 6 verticals.
