Jena Irene Asciutto (born July 13, 1996)[1] is an American singer from Farmington Hills, Michigan, who is currently a Top 8 finalist on the thirteenth season of American Idol.[2]

Early life

Jena lives in Farmington Hills with her mother, Julie (Loiselle); her father; and her younger brother, Nick.[3][4] She is a senior at North Farmington High School,[5] where she participated in the school's annual "Coffee House" talent show.

Irene's original song "Free" was released on iTunes in 2010. Another original, "Unbreakable Me," which Irene has performed multiple times on American Idol, was also released to iTunes, along with her covers of The Rolling Stones' "Paint It Black," and Maroon 5's "Payphone," as part of her high school's "NFHS Coffee House 2013" collection.

American Idol

Jena was chosen as a 'Wild Card' performer for American Idol, alongside CJ Harris, Bria Anai, Kristen O'Connor, and Spencer Lloyd. Lloyd and Anai were eliminated, while Irene, Harris, and O'Connor were selected as the final three members of the Top 13. In the results show of the Top 12 week, Irene was in the bottom three, along with MK Nobilette; Emily Piriz was the third person in the bottom three group, and was ultimately eliminated.
