Deutscher Basketball Bund e.V. (DBB; literally: German basketball federation) is the governing body of basketball in Germany. It was founded in Düsseldorf on 1 October 1949 and resides in Hagen since 1969.[1] The Nonprofit organization (German: e.V.) consists of German basketball clubs as members and is itself a member of FIBA Europe.

Purpose[edit]

Its purpose is the facilitation and support of basketball in Germany for which it provides regulations and coordinates the training of referees. It further organizes championships on a national level for different age classes as long as those are not self-organized like the Basketball Bundesliga for men and the Damen-Basketball-Bundesliga for women. The DBB appoints the national teams of Germany for the different international competitions of FIBA Europe and the FIBA.
