Talking Tom and Friends is a video game franchise created in 2010 by computer game developer Outfit7 with headquarters in London, England, and software development offices in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where its software creator Samo Login is from, Seoul, South Korea, as well as in Limassol, Cyprus, and Palo Alto, USA.[1] It includes virtual pets and plush toys, both of which voice back in a chosen character's voice what is said by its user or repeating the text after each other, using a voice recognition system.[2] In partnership with Disney's Disney Interactive/Hollywood Records a series of videos were created, based on the characters.

The app, that runs on iOS, Android, Kindle, and Windows Phone 8, and the actual toys are available in more than 310 million households worldwide.[2] Reaching 1.5 billion downloads and 230 million monthly active users, which is more than Twitter in 2014,[3] its success was compared to Cut the Rope by ZeptoLab and Angry Birds by Rovio.[2]
