The firm specializes in integrated security platforms for critical infrastructure and campus environments.[1] SDI is a privately held company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.[2]
History
David A. Gupta[3] founded the company in Chicago as an information services division of Environmental Systems Design, Inc. in 1989.[4] In 1996, the division emerged from the parent company as System Development.Integration, LLC.[5]
Present
In April 2014, David Sullivan was appointed CEO and Brian Diver[6] was appointed as President and COO of SDI,[7] which in 2012 secured significant investments by private equity firms, LLR Partners[8] and Monument Capital Group.[9][10] Founder David A. On June 18, 2013, SDI acquired i-sys Corporation[11] in order to expand its business into the private sector.[12][13] Soon after SDI made its second acquisition in August 2013 when it purchased X7, a Washington, D.C.-based integration company.[14]

In addition to its Chicago headquarters, SDI is located in Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles, California; Charleston, South Carolina; El Dorado Hills, CA; Knoxville, Tennessee; Louisville, Kentucky; Miami, Florida; Guaynabo, Puerto Rico; and Istanbul, Turkey.[16]
The company currently secures and operates large-scale, complex infrastructure for a national portfolio of clients in the government, transportation, education, utilities, and real estate industries, including Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport[17] and Chicago Transit Authority.[18]
