Osman Khalid Butt is a Pakistani actor, director, journalist and writer. He is best known for his role in Aik Nayee Cinderella aired on Hum TV, and Aunn Zara aired on A-Plus Entertainment, both of which rank among the highest rated Pakistani serial. Butt was widely praised for his role which earned him a nomination for Best Drama Actor at Pakistan Media Awards.

Personal life

Butt was born into a Muslim family in Islamabad, Pakistan on 9 February 1986. He is the youngest son of television actor, director and screenwriter Dr. Khalid Said Butt. He has one brother and one sister. Butt's father is Kashmiri and his mother is French of Polish descent.

Career

He is dubbed the Pakistani Orlando Bloom[1] by his increasing number of fans and has played supporting roles in two films, Zibahkhana[2] and Slackistan.[3] Slackistan is an independent movie directed by London-based filmmaker, Hammad Khan, in which he played the role of Saad. Slackistan has not been released in Pakistan due to objections raised by Central Board of Film Censors. In 2012, he acted in a television serial Aik Nayee Cinderella on Geo TV. In 2013, he starred as Aunn in A-Plus Entertainment's critically lauded Aunn Zara, for which he was nominated at 4th Pakistan Media Awards in the category of Best Drama Actor.

He is also the co-founder, creative lead and poetry editor at Desi Writers Lounge,[4] an online, 24/7, 365 days a year writers' workshop and community, that aims to showcase new voices in South Asian writing through their biannual publication, 'Papercuts'.[5]
