Tando Jahania (Sindh-ٹنڈوجهانياں) is a small town located in the city of Hyderabad. The town has a history of Sufism as the Syeds from Multan migrated here making it a sacred place for Muslims. These Syeds came here from Uch Sharif (Bahawalpur District) via Jahanian (Khanewal District 42 km from Multan). These were the descendants of Jahaniyan Jahangasht a famous Sufi saint.[1][2][3][4] The family’s lineage is linked to Jalaluddin Surkh-Posh Bukhari of Uch Sharif( Punjab, Pakistan) and that makes the lineage the descendents of Imam Naqi(Ali al-Hadi); the descendent of Imam Ali and the Islamic prophet Muhammad.[5]

History

Jahanian family is embedded with the colours of Islam, it is for the reason that famous saints all over the world are from the Jahanian bloodline. Dating back to the year 707 AH, Makhdoom Jahaniyan Jahangasht was born at Uchh Sharif. He was the grandson of Jalaluddin Surkh-Posh Bukhari,they were the 16th generation of Imam Ali ibn e Abi Talib and 6th generation of Imam Ali Naqi. This town is popular due to the shrine of Syed Qutub Ali Shah ("Qutub"). Among the descendants of Jahaniyan Jahangasht, Syed Qutub Ali Shah became quite famous in Sindh specially in Hyderabad. He made Tando Jahania a center of Knowledge and a gateway of Sufism.[6]

He was born on 21st of Ramazan 1229 AH.He was the son of Syed Fateh Din Shah, a descendant of Jahaniyan Jahangasht He was God Gifted and obedient during his childhood. He evolved with a charismatic personality in his family. Due to his spiritual personality he gained effective popularity specially in Sindh. He was a good Poet along with writing skills. Many non Muslims embraced Islam following his teachings. Each year his fans gather from all over the world to pay tribute to his contributions for humanity and Islam.His son Syed Roshan Ali Shah and his grandson Syed Talib Hussain Shah carried on his mission. Syed Noor Hussain Shah is the active Successor of Syed Qutub Ali Shah.[7]

Tando Jahania is a Shia populated town. Thousands of mourners arrive each year on 8th of Muharram to mourn the Martyrdom of Imam Hussein ibn Ali, which is known as Mourning of Muharram. In this regard Matam e Hussain is arranged every year on a large scale by the Jahanians. Syed Tajamul Hussain Shah, a descendant of Syed Qutub Ali Shah, is the key figure among the Shias of Tando Jahania regarding. Syed Tajamul shah, the Chairman Khandaq Committee Sindh All religious activities including Namaz,processions, Majalis e Aza and Jashn e Milad are at School ground all over the year. This town comprises a religious union or association Anjuman e Safeena e Ahlebait which was initiated by Syed Tajamul Hussain shah and other respectable Jahanians

Poetry and Litereature

Knowledge is the actual essence of the town and poetry is the key talent of this family. The inhabitants of the town are still known for their contribution in Poetry and Literature. In this regard, books have been already published, e.g. "Gulshan Roshan", "Jahania Khandan", "Miskeen Namo", etc. Following were the leading poets of the town;
