Adam Woodyatt (born June 28, 1968 in Walthamstow, East London ) is a British actor. He is best known as Ian Beale in the BBC soap opera EastEnders.

Career

A graduate of the Sylvia Young Theatre School, he acted in the children's drama The Baker Street Boys before joining Eastenders as original cast member Ian Beale in the BBC soap opera. He has played the role almost continuously since the show started in 1985. Only one other actor has been in the show as long as Woodyatt, and that is Wendy Richard, who plays Pauline Fowler.

Woodyatt shall become the only remaining cast member since the beginning as Wendy Richard is leaving the soap.

Adam Woodyatt has also made several guest appearances on other television shows, all in relation to his role in EastEnders.

Personal Life

He is one of the few cast members of EastEnders who actually comes from the east end of London where the series is set, although he now lives in Southam, Warwickshire.

Woodyatt married dancer Beverley Sharp in Disney World, Florida, on 8 April 1998. The couple have two children, Jessica (b. 1993) and a son (b. 1997).

His interests include cricket, fishing, football, golf and cycling.
