Wikipedia:General sanctions/Units in the United Kingdom
Community discussion
A community discussion at the administrators' noticeboard has authorised the use of general sanctions to curtail disruption related to systems of measurement in the context of the United Kingdom. 16:36, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
Remedies
Sanctions imposed cannot be undone by another administrator without approval of the sanctioning administrator or an appeal at the administrators' noticeboard. Prior to being sanctioned, editors must be notified of these sanctions with the {{subst:Gs/UKU notification}} template. Use the {{subst:Community sanction}} template when imposing sanctions. For blocks, use {{subst:Uw-csblock}}.
In articles that have strong ties solely to the United Kingdom, as opposed to other English-speaking countries, and at Manual of Style-related pages:
- Any editor who systematically changes values from one system of measurement to another without clear consensus, who edit-wars over such a change, who disrupts talk page discussions or normal Wikipedia processes pertaining to units in UK-related articles, who engages in forum-shopping, or who otherwise disruptively edits may be sanctioned by an uninvolved administrator.
- Sanctions can be imposed if, after being notified of the existence of these sanctions, an editor repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behaviour, or normal editorial processes. Sanctions imposed may include blocks of up to one year in length, bans from editing any page or set of pages, bans on any editing related to the topic or its closely related topics, restrictions on reverts or other specified behaviours, or any other measures that the imposing administrator believes are reasonably necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of the project. Notifications must be logged at the general sanctions page to be effective.
- Sanctions may only be appealed at the administrators' noticeboard.
Log of notifications and updates
Editors who have been notified of the existence of these sanctions should be logged here, along with a diff of the notification. For consistency, the template {{subst:Gs/UKU notification}} must be used. Any editor can issue a notification. The appropriate procedure for notifying editors of the existence of these sanctions is described here.
