Govinda will be doing the role of the antagonist in this film.[4] [6]

Critical Reception
Trailer was very well received by critics by writing Shaad ali has passed the acid test perfectly in the trailer. Trailer of Kill Dil also garnered rave reviews on social media [11]
Movie received good critical reception [12] declaring the film as stylish and is attentively staged. Acting wise Govinda steals the show, Ali Zafar plays his character with perfect attitude. Mostly we have seen him in comic roles but as a serious goon he surprises us all. Ranveer Singh brings out the softer, innocent and endearing act with efficiency. Parineeti Chopra after a lot of de-glam roles finally gets to show her alluring side while her act compliments the scene. [13] [14]
Boxoffice Reception
Movie released on 2300 screens in india. [15] Film opened on a decent note in its opening shows.[16]
Movie received generally negative reviews by critics with some panning the film outright. It scored a 43% approval rating on bollymoviereviewz.com. Shubra Gupta of Indian Express gives is a 0.5/5 rating and writes " I have just got done with ‘Kill Dil’, and my heart is still in a state of arrest: how can you make a film with a bunch of actors who have proved they are capable of carrying a scene, and above all Govinda, which is such a dud? This isn't one of those films that slides after a promising start. This begins badly, plods away the way it began, and ends worse. Dear Yashraj, are you serious?" while Sukanya Verma of Rediff writes "Kill Dil has random songs, birdbrained logic and a romance that’s about as exciting as toothpaste. Seriously, even the on-going season of Bigg Boss has more meat than this half-cooked turkey of a script. It’s as though Shaad discovered somebody’s cell phone, read all 20 SMS jokes (the kind that led to the invention of technology like mute and block) and decided to make a no-holds barred dumb movie out of it." Bollywood Hungama Network writes " KILL DIL is a film which clearly lacks the 'YRF' style. With this film, director Shaad Ali has terribly failed to recreate the same magic which he had earlier exhibited in films like SAATHIYA and BUNTY AUR BABLI.While the film struggles to establish itself within the first half, the second half not just loses its pace, but also the direction in which the film is heading towards. On the whole, KILL DIL is a film, which could have been worth watching, had it been handled and directed properly. This film's definitely worth a miss." Mohan Basu of Koimoi adds " Kill Dil won’t make you cringe for sure, but the film suffers from mistaken identity and that remains its perennial problem. There are two many songs in the film that dilutes the central drama. The camaraderie works, the romance does too, but what doesn’t work is the film’s story. The botched up climax and the abrupt, muddled ending killed the little goodness that was there in the film. Kill Dil‘s ending just made me want to yell, ‘Kill Me!’ The film is such a waste of a fine caste and what had the potential of being a good film."
Meanwhile Rajeev Masand of CNN-IBN had a little more positivity to add concluding that "There's not a lot of praise one can heap on 'Kill Dil' except to say that it's not an unwatchable film. The first hour goes by briskly, and you'll even find yourself smiling along. If that's enough for you, give it a shot."
