Shastri Sisters — Chaar Dil Ek Dhadkan commonly abbreviated as Shastri Sisters is an Indian television series, which premiered on July 21, 2014 on Colors TV. The show stars Neha Pednekar, Ishita Ganguly, Sonal Vengurlekar and Pragati Chourasiya [2][3] as the four Shastri sisters. The story of the show revolves around the life of four sisters as they make their journey from Kanpur to Delhi.[4][5]
Plot summary
Shastri Sisters is a story which revolves around 4 sisters; Alka, Anushka, Devyani and Peeya. This story takes beautiful twists and turns as these 4 sisters adjust to their new life in Delhi. The family has moved from Kanpur to Delhi due to their father’s (Narayan Shastri) job transfer. The Shastri sisters have lost their mother at a very young age and since then Alka has been a motherly figure to the rest of them.
The family stays in a house owned by Narayan Shastri's old friend Surender Sareen. Sareen family has Surender Sareen living with his wife Minti and their sons Rajat and Neil. Although Sareen sees the four sisters as his own daughters, Minti dislikes the Shastri sisters from the day she meets them.
Due to a series of uncalled for situations, Neil is not initially fond of the Shastri sisters. But later he develops feelings for Devyani. Alka had a boyfriend named Rajiv while in Kanpur, but obeying her father, she gets married to Rohan. Although it has taken a bit of time to adjust, she has happily accepted Rohan as her husband. Rajat, who is a Squadron leader, falls for Anushka, but Devyani falls for Rajat creating a love triangle in the story. For her sister's happiness, Anushka sacrifices her love initially. She asks Rajat to marry Devyani making him to swear on their love.
In the meanwhile, Neil falls for Devyani but she rejects him very politely. Dejected, Neils tries to commit suicide by falling off the cliff and drowning in the pond below. He is eventually saved by the people in the vicinity. Minty and her sister, Nikki, start causing trouble for the sisters as a revenge for Neil. They tell Devyani that Rajat and Anushka are having an affair. Rajat ends up confessing his love for Anushka, which devastates Devyani. Rajat wants to marry Anushka, but she says that she can't be in a relationship with someone who has caused pain to her family.
Rajat meets Karishma (his ex-girlfriend) by accident in the marketplace. Karishma (who is Rohan's cousin and Alka's sister in law) along with Rajat put up a charade that they are together to make Anushka express her love. In the meanwhile Karishma falls for Rajat and starts to plan how she can eliminate Anushka from Rajat’s life with Aastha.
The day when Anushka is about to express her love, the air force police arrives at the house. Rajat had been given a job to take care of a confidential CD but has been replaced with a music CD. They eventually find it in Anushka's cupboard. Rajat becomes angry and ends up agreeing to marry Karishma.
Anushka, Devyani and Neil find out that it had been Karishma who had hid the CD, as she wanted Rajat and framed Anushka. On the day of Karishma and Rajat’s wedding, just to be sure that the wedding goes smooth Karishma kidnaps Anushka and dumps her in her car. Anushka is rescued by Neil and Devyani when they pass by the car where Anushka is struggling to get out of the bonds tied by Karishma’s bodyguard. They then corner Rajat and try to tell him the truth but he is not convinced that Karishma can do something of such magnitude. So the 4 plan that Anushka will come in the mandap as a bride so that Karishma will confess her crime. So when Karishma is called in the mandap, Anushka comes in a bridal costume as well. Everyone is shocked to see two brides. Anushka claims that Karishma stole the CD. However, Karishma doesn't stop the marriage and Rajat and Anushka end up actually marrying. Karishma cuts herself with a knife, putting the blame on Anushka once again. The Pandey and Sharma families go to the hospital. Surender Sareen and Neil accept Anushka as Rajat’s wife but Rajat and Minty say that they cannot accept her as it was a betrayal. Anushka swears on her mother that she will leave the house without saying anything the next day if she cannot prove herself innocent.
