Fallujah is an American technical death metal band from San Francisco, California, founded in 2007.
History
2007-2010
Fallujah was founded in early 2007 by Alex Hofmann, Scott Carstairs, Tommy Logan, Dan Wissinger, and Suliman Arghandiwal. Their first show was on on June 15, 2007 in Walnut Creek, California. Their first four songs released were "Tyrant", "Verdict", "Schleicher" and "Infidel" as demos.
Later that year, Fallujah's bassist Dan Wissinger parted. Their drummer, Tommy Logan also left. Brandon "Brando" Hoberg on bass and Andrew Baird on drums joined. The band continued shows in the bay area and sometimes played in areas such as Sacramento. In winter of 2007, Fallujah recorded their 2nd demo at TWS studios in Vacaville, California. The songs "Prophets", "Blacklist", and "100 Years From Now" were on this demo. They were released in January 2008.
After about a year of doing songs of previous recordings, they began writing their debut EP named Leper Colony. Prior to recording it, Fallujah parted with their original singer, Suliman Arghandiwal. Guitar player Alex Hofmann took up vocals while Rob Maramonte joined as a guitar player. The songs created their own sound, mixing technical death metal, black metal, and atmospheric metal. They now recorded with Sam Pura of Panda Studios in San Francisco. These songs were released in January 2009.
Fallujah expanded their area and reputation greatly in the months after the release of Leper Colony. They played in Chico, California; Fresno, and Bakersfield. In the summer of 2009, the band embarked on their first legitimate tour with Antagony, playing in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.
In late 2009 and early 2010, Fallujah did a month-long tour with Fallen Figure. In Spring of 2010, guitarist Anthony Borges left and by former guitarist Rob Maramonte who joined just days before a short spring West Coast Tour.
On July 22, 2014, Fallujah released their second album The Flesh Prevails on Unique Leader Records.[1]
