BassHunter is the pseudonym of the Swedish musician and DJ Jonas Altberg, born in 1984, in Halmstad, Sweden.

BassHunter describes his own music as eurodance, but others also classify it as hard dance. According to himself, he makes the music on his own computer using the program Fruityloops. He started making music in 1999 and he released his first album – The Bassmachine – through his own home page in 2004.

Altberg has been diagnosed with Tourette syndrome – a condition he spent a lot of energy dealing with while growing up and has only gradually overcome[1].

Boten Anna

BassHunter became a noted artist in Sweden, Denmark and Norway after the release of the single Boten Anna ("Anna, the bot") in 2006. The song topped hit charts and – on the 3rd of May 2006 – was named Norway's official Russ-song[2]. It was also the most popular song at The Gathering demo party 2006.

The Swedish lyrics of Boten Anna tell the story of a female IRC user mistaken for an IRC bot by the vocalist who later finds out the truth; subsequently, however, he states that she will always remain a bot in his eyes. Despite the esoteric subject of the lyrics, the song was well-received by mainstream media, albeit the word bot was frequently mistaken for boat (as many people don't know how to pronounce bot correctly), and the double meaning of channel (IRC channel mistaken for the water body with the same name - channel). The video to the song shows BassHunter riding a pedal boat down a canal which may have further added to the confusion. Ironically, there is a brand of plastic boat named Bass Hunter.

A bot named Anna occasionally resides in the IRC channel #BassHunter.se on Quakenet, albeit due to the popularity of the song, the channel, as well as #Anna, has been filled up with bots.

A Danish remix has been made by the Danish Internet radio MMradio.org. The remix is a parody, based on the fact that a lot of people think the song is about a boat, instead of a bot. Hence, the parody is about a boat, which further heightens the misunderstanding. The producers who made it never told what they would like to call it and thus received a name identifying Anna as a boat by a listener upon its first airing.

A Dutch duo (Gebroeders Ko) also covered it, and their song is also called "Boten Anna" and is about a boat called Anna. In the video there are about 6 sexy ladies dancing on the boat, while listening to "Boten Anna".

Vi sitter i Ventrilo och spelar DotA

This song is about BassHunter and his friends, using the voice communication application Ventrilo while they are playing DotA, a custom map for Warcraft 3. It's a eurodance song, very similar to Daddy DJ's song Daddy DJ or Scatman.
