Nicholas Chamberlaine School is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located in the town of Bedworth, Warwickshire, England. With approximately 1,700 boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 18, it is one of the largest schools in Warwickshire. The current Acting Head Teacher is Mrs A Ramsay, who took over in February 2015.
It is named after Nicholas Chamberlaine (1632–1715) who was a local benefactor and a prominent figure in the history of Bedworth. The school officially opened in 1953. The Headteacher was Mr. Skinner. At that time it was a comprehensive school.
The school became a specialist technology college before converting to academy status in September 2013.
Notable former students
Former Libertines and current Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty attended the school from 1992 to 1997.
The author of speculative fiction Graham Joyce also attended Nicholas Chamberlaine School in the late 1960s.[1]
The former Coventry City, Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday player Andy Blair went to the school in the 1970s.
Steven Bates former national league rugby union player for Coventry RFC and also Stourbridge RFC.
David Ison a well known theatre and musical touring sound engineer, who has worked in venue's across the UK and Europe and previously worked as a producer at BBC Radio 1 attended the school from 1992 to 1995
Car boot sales
To raise extra funds the school's Parent-Teacher Association organises car boot sales, which are held in the grounds, approximately once per month, on Sundays from April to October—providing the playing fields are not too muddy.
