Peter Azur

Thank you for your well-reasoned and helpful response. I think we both realize that Azur's contribution to cinematic history ranks somewhat short of stellar. I tend to agree with you on all points you raised, particularly the notability requirement. We'll simply abandon this mini-project unless you can locate an interested third-party.

Hi, I tried a different plagiarism checker (Grammarly). The lede passed Grammarly, but you're right, the Instrument section looks problematical. Give me a day to work on it.

Stigmatella aurantiaca (talk) 17:30, 24 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Stigmatella aurantiaca: Sure, that sounds good. The article looks great, so I'm sure once you resubmit it won't be long before it's approved. Thanks for all your hard work—I don't write too many articles, but when I do, I'm always cognizant of the effort required. /wia /talk 17:32, 24 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm really upset. I worked very hard to bring the score down to 36.3%, but just today, a new link appeared "Ground-based and Airborne Instrumentation for Astronomy V" that gives a match of 49.0%!!! Looking closely at the Source, the matches are all isolated phrases. Advice? Stigmatella aurantiaca (talk) 21:54, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Stigmatella aurantiaca: It's not merely the number that indicates copyvio problems, but rather the similarities between the texts. The number the copyvio detector returns is sometimes helpful but it doesn't necessarily mean there's a copyright issue. If you compare the text of the two links here, you'll find that the majority of the putatively copied text is actually a series of names and proper nouns, which is not a copyright violation. So you don't have anything to worry about from a copyright perspective! /wia /talk 22:02, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New Article Submission on Regression Therapy

I understand you have rejected a new article on "Regression Therapy" and have suggested that it is included in an existing article on "Past Life Regression". I would like you to reconsider this decision the following reasons;

Regression Therapy is a separate discipline of therapy drawing on many healing modularities; age regression, inner child regression, body therapy, transpersonal experiences, and If stories emerge from a client that appear to be past lives they are dealt with as healing metaphors. Thats was clearly stated in the article. This is completely different from past life regression which is about allowing people having just "past life experiences" which they may think are real.

Past Life Regression is a controversial subject open to different religious and cultural views and the article is subject to may changes and disputes. Not an area I wish to enter.

Regression therapy is practiced by medical doctors and therapists working to a clearly defined international standard. It has thousands of therapists across the world doing this work. As such it deserves respect from Wikipedia to have an article covering this work.

The article on Regression Therapy has been written to provide notability and verification to meet Wikipedia standards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andy Tomlinson (talkcontribs) 09:48, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Andy Tomlinson: I'm sorry, but these two subjects still seem very similar to me. One is "a technique that uses hypnosis to recover what practitioners believe are memories of past lives or incarnations", while the other "uses a range of hypnotherapy and psychotherapy techniques but differs by putting more focus on regression and working with transpersonal experiences to transform them". I don't see any substantial difference in definition here, your post notwithstanding. The only difference seems to be the willingness of practitioners to treat memories as a metaphor. You're welcome to seek a second opinion at the Help Desk, of course. Just post your question there according to the guidelines and someone should be along to answer within a few hours. /wia /talk 10:20, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Wikiisawesome: If this logic is followed Regression Therapy could equally be added to articles on inner child regression, body memories, hypnosis or age regression. I'm sorry I disagree and would like the opinions from other editors. I'm new to writing Wikipedia articles and have put in a great mount of effort to meet all the requirements for a new page. Help please. /talk 27 May 2015 (UTC)
@Andy Tomlinson: That's okay; disagreements are bound to happen from time to time on Wikipedia. The best course of action is to seek the opinion of other editors. Consensus is a great way to solve problems! Go on over to the Help Desk and post your question there (something along the lines of "my draft was declined for reason x; I think it deserves a re-review for reasons y and z."). Someone should be along with a fresh set of eyes not too long after you post! /wia /talk 11:21, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Andy Tomlinson: I'll note also that you appear to have cited your own publications in the draft article, which means you may have a conflict of interest. Conflict-of-interest editing is strongly discouraged on Wikipedia, and it is highly advisable to read WP:COI before proceeding with any edition in the subject. /wia /talk 10:24, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Wikiisawesome: My name was not mentioned in the article and I was not aware of a conflict of interest. In any event of the 64 references my books were mentioned 4 times. If this is an issue I'll pass my work on the article to an independent editor and they can include or reject my book references and resubmit the article /talk 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Request on 13:14:52, 27 May 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Paid2Tweet

My submission was rejected because "the subject of this article already exists in Wikipedia. You can find it and improve it at Marsh & McLennan Companies instead." Marsh and Marsh & McLennan companies are separate entities. Marsh and McLennan companies is the parent company of Marsh LLC. We share history but they are separate and distinct entities.

Could you please let me know what I need to do get the Marsh page published?

Paid2Tweet (talk) 13:14, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Paid2Tweet: I will be busy for the next 5–6 hours but will give you a detailed answer later today! Thanks, /wia /talk 14:14, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Paid2Tweet: One of the main problems with the article is the referencing. Of all the references, only one (the Reuters article) talks about Marsh itself in significant detail. None of the others even seem to mention Marsh; instead, they all talk about Marsh & McLennan. In fact, the Bloomberg article seems to use the two names interchangeably. So while the companies may be different entities, the current referencing is a problem. You can remedy this by finding reliable, independent (third-party) sources that discuss Marsh (not just Marsh & McLennan) in significant detail. Alternatively, you could roll some of the content about Marsh into the existing Marsh & McLennan Companies article, perhaps by adding a new "History" section.
I hope this answer makes sense. Let me know if you'd like further guidance or have any other questions! /wia /talk 20:26, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikiiawesome, thanks for your feedback re my proposed article "European research and innovation for environment: policy and actions" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:European_research_and_innovation_for_environment:_policy_and_actions#More_information_about_the_European_research_and_innovation_for_environment_policy

Could you please help by pointing out which paragraphs you consider copied from a report? Many thanks, Monica Soniamo (talk) 16:43, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Soniamo: I'll be away from my computer for the next two hours, but after that I will run the report again and identify the sentences that I found to be too closely paraphrased. Thanks, /wia /talk 17:40, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Wikiiawesome: thanks Wikiiawesome, I have been chatting with other reviewers and they agreed it's not about plagiarism, please see below:

19:14] <+topaz> soniamo: I think I agree that this is an "edge case" and that the instnaces of copied material don't constitute copyright infringement

So I am working with topaz and we will submit it again. if you have other comments, please let me know

Thanks, Monica

@Soniamo: Certainly, and I'll pitch in too if needed. I did think it was an edge case and so I'll happily defer if others agree it doesn't constitute a copyright or plagiarism problem. Best of luck with the article! /wia /talk 18:11, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Wikiiawesome: great thanks!
@Soniamo: The sentences I had identified are "It is expected that at least 60 % of the overall Horizon 2020 budget should be related to sustainable development. It is also expected that climate-related expenditure should exceed 35 % of the overall Horizon 2020 budget". /wia /talk 22:12, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Wikiiawesome: thanks! this is an extract from a press release and we have quoted it. we can add the quotation marks to be more precise and correct. however, your rejection reason was plagiarsim from the report http://ec.europa.eu/research/environment/pdf/research_for_the_environment.pdf. can we now agree that this is no longer the case?
thanks,
monica

@Soniamo: Sorry for the late reply. I think the copying issue from the europa site you linked above has been dealt with. Once you've finished cleaning up the article, you can resubmit it and an AFC reviewer will be along in the coming weeks to take another look. Thanks, /wia /talk 23:58, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Wikiiawesome: thanks

Search the supplied link, http://emmyonline.org/mediacenter/sports_34th_winners.html Jeff Kalvin is listed. It is properly referenced. Misterhandsfriend (talk) 15:29, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Misterhandsfriend: Hi, and thanks for inquiring here! Per WP:BIO, articles about people require multiple reliable, independent (third-party) sources that discuss the subject in significant detail. The current reference offers only one sentence about Kelvin. That's not sufficient coverage of Kelvin to make out notability, so more reliable sources will be necessary. /wia /talk 15:31, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Question concerning new article

Hello there,

So I created a new article and submitted for review. You mentioned I need more reliable references. Question is, references must be in English or any language will do? Tnks a million ;-) Mironit9 (talk) 19:19, 28 May 2015 (UTC)Mironit9[reply]

@Mironit9: Non-English sources are allowed, although English ones are preferable if you can find them! WP:NOENG details the policy. Happy editing and sourcing! /wia /talk 19:26, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 04:28:59, 29 May 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Khumpinla

Hi - I am trying to add a new Wikipedia page for Jennifer Yen, and it was rejected due to insufficient sources. Jennifer played Vypra in the Power Rangers. I was looking at the Power Rangers page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Rangers_Lightspeed_Rescue, and then at another one of the villian's wikipedia page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane_Salinger -- it looks like the page for Diane Salinger has fewer references than the Jennifer Yen submission. Also, her only references are IMDB and her personal website. How did this page get approved, but the one for Jennifer was not? Is there something I should do differently?

Thanks!

Khumpinla (talk) 04:28, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Khumpinla: Hi! Since Wikipedia is a volunteer project, some bad articles tend to slip through the cracks and end up on Wikipedia from time to time. If we were to judge all new content by comparison to existing articles, it could lower the quality of new Wikipedia content. As such, the "what about this other article?" argument doesn't hold much water on Wikipedia. If you're looking for a good article to compare with, you can search through the Featured Articles for inspiration, like James T. Aubrey, for example. I'll take a look at that article you mentioned.
As for your article, keep on looking for good references! When you feel you've met the notability requirement, feel free to resubmit. Thanks! /wia /talk 11:26, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Absorb LMS Draft

Hey WIA - I've added another thorough 3rd party source (the Brandon Hall Group Technology Review) I hope that's enough to do the trick! Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.229.45.130 (talk) 17:04, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take another look in a few hours once I've gotten off work and report back with my thoughts! /wia /talk 17:07, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm opening the new link but it leads me to nothing but a login screen—is the content behind a paywall or accessibly by members only? /wia /talk 01:07, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey WIA, yes it is behind a members only paid subscription. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.229.45.130 (talk) 15:34, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sources behind paywalls are acceptable, although since I don't personally have a subscription, I'm not able to read the article to assess it. The article has been submitted for review so it shouldn't be too long (a few weeks at most) before someone from the AfC project takes a look; I try not to review a draft twice in a row, so as to ensure impartial reviewing. In the meantime, you're welcome to continue tinkering with the article. /wia /talk 17:23, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome. Thanks for the heads up and the initial review. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.229.45.130 (talk) 21:18, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please reconsider the draft as I have corrected the article and cited it properly. Prymshbmg (talk) 14:36, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Prymshbmg: I see you've resubmitted the draft, so an AfC reviewer should be along in the coming days or weeks to have a second look. I'll note that there's a bit of WP:CITEKILL in places, so I'd suggest working on that while you wait. Thanks, /wia /talk 15:12, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Editing on the page typing

Thank you for telling me you don't think the paragraph on "Brady typing" is not appearing constructive to you, but I have to say, just because you don't think is constructive doesn't means it is not to other users. Is not a good thing to let other reader knows that there's such thing on the internet. If you think that part is not constructive, oh boy you have tons and tons of pages that you have to delete, e.g. the page on the M-stock in Hong Kong MTR. Only a tiny tiny amount of people cares about that, but it still exists; on the other hand the word "Brady typing" cares buy thousands and thousands of fans of "Hello Internet", and you don't let it exist. Such logic. Mr Fat Lai (talk) 16:23, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Mr Fat Lai: You will need to find reliable sources for that information, and it will have to achieve consensus before it is added. I've seen similar content removed from that article several times in the past, so it is a contentious issue. Regarding the "what about this other article" point you raise, take a look at WP:WAX, which addresses your concerns. /wia /talk 16:27, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The page I submitted although the content may appear on the Phoenix Patriot Foundation website, I AUTHORED all of the content on that website. You may, however delete the page as you see fit. Since this is my first stab at Wikipedia I understand the reason why it would be assumed that I did not author the content.

AudreyCD 17:15, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

@AudreyCD: Hi, and thanks for inquiring on my page. Even if you authored the content at the Phoenix Patriot Foundation, it is copyrighted (scroll to the bottom of that site and you will see the copyright notice), meaning the copyright likely belongs to the organization now. You will need to seek permission from them to license the text to Wikipedia. Information on how this can be done is at WP:PERMISSION. I have nominated the article for speedy deletion because of the copyright infringement. However, you're welcome to have another try at the article in the future. Feel free to ask me any questions that you might have here, or at the WP:TEAHOUSE, a very friendly place to hang out and learn more about Wikipedia. /wia /talk 17:41, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Assistance Requested

Thanks for your suggestions regarding my proposed "human excreta" article. For some background, until my proposal, the term "human excreta" was included under the "human waste" article and as a redirect to same. It is crucial to realize, however, that given the reasons I lay out in the article, while they may refer to the same material, their use (as terms) couldn't be more different. IOW one describes a "waste" material while the other describes a "resource". Since "human waste" has its own article I felt it was only right that "human excreta" has its own article as well. Please note that I modestly reworked the article and have added an additional reference (a TedX presentation), the latter of which may assist you in understanding the basis from which I am proposing the article. Now, as far as neutrality goes, I'm unclear how to improve the neutrality of an article that is in effect describing a political (and thus opinionated) concept or, said another way, a politicized term. Therefore, what ever additional assistance you can provide will be most appreciated. Thanks again. Gruster (talk) 17:55, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Gruster: Hi, thanks for stopping by. I thought about your draft for a while before reviewing it. It was a tough call. On the one hand, I see how the usage of "waste" is inherently negative, and how some parties are trying to change that perception. But on the other hand, my gut feeling is that this material might fit better in an existing article like sustainable sanitation. What I suggest doing is resubmitting the draft for review. Another AFC reviewer will come along and take a look in the coming days or weeks. I will also ask the denizens of WikiProject Sanitation for comment. Both of these courses of action will bring in fresh pairs of eyes and help us determine the best spot for this content.
As for the neutrality comment, I think the article looks better now after your revisions. I'll note that sometimes "many" is considered a weasel word since it creates "an impression that something specific and meaningful has been said, when in fact only a vague or ambiguous claim has been communicated". Other than that, I don't see much to worry about on the neutrality front. /wia /talk 18:08, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have added my two-cents worth here. Or perhaps it is better to continue the discussion on the talk page of the article on human waste. EvM-Susana (talk) 20:20, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@EvM-Susana and Gruster: We can certainly continue at human waste if that's not too much trouble for all involved! /wia /talk 20:47, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2. I Am Not promoting a site, but sharing a current Biblical Time on Earth, of which I have been Asked of God to do, and due to the nature of these vast, dual Sites, and God Being the Primary Source on God's New Revelations side, it may seem as a promotion. It is He Who has Brought together The Messiahs of The Third Testament, He Asks you to show Me, why you have turned this down.

If Jesus had this opportunity in today's age, you would have turned him down, and never had The New Testament.

@Radbleu: Turn the external links within the body of the article into references, and then try resubmitting. 17:21:54, 1 June 2015 review of submission by Gfdemarest

Hi there, first, thanks for reviewing my article. I am taking steps to remove buzzwords and promotional language. I am not request a re-review yet until I get some clarification about my references.

You mention in your comments that "the majority of the sources in the references section don't mention SL Corporation by name at all." this may be true if you are just looking at the intro page to the articles, but there is significant coverage of SL in the full articles. But because these references are in analyst reports that require payment to access, you are not getting to the heart of the article.

As wikipedia says that "Sources do not have to be available online ", how can I show that my references are valid? These analyst reports are the most important and notable reference you can get in the tech world.

thanks for any thoughts you can spare on this.

Gfdemarest (talk) 17:21, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Gfdemarest: Hello, thank you for inquiring here! You are correct in that sources need not be available online. However, you do need to provide enough detail so that someone can find them. The solution is to add the link to the actual analyst report, not just to the website's homepage or the introductory page. That way, someone with a subscription can access the report, and they don't have to search around the site to try to locate it themselves.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. /wia /talk 18:33, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for creation: Erol Erdinç

Hi there!

Thank you for shedding some light on this "not enough inline citations" stuff. To remind what you said:

″There are not enough inline citations in the draft. When you do so, take care that you are using reliable, independent (third-party) sources that discuss the subject in significant detail. Of the three links listed in your references section, two are from the subject himself (meaning they are not independent) and the third only mentions him in passing. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks, wia (talk) 02:32, 22 April 2015 (UTC)″

So I have a few questions regarding this:

This person is a musician. I thought that most reliable info must be in his official website and social media accounts. But you say that it is not objective. I'm not sure if I can find published material about a musician (conductor). What kinds of source can I use for reference? Can I use references like news from websites, past facebook events etc.? Can I use these references (news from websites, past facebook events etc.) written in Turkish for this English article?

It is my understanding that he engaged with Russian, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian orchestras and maybe there are sources in these languages but I don't understand these languages, so there is a little chance that I can use any source written in these languages. What can I do about this?

Thank you so much for your time.

@Nefertura: Hello, and thank you for inquiring on my talk page! Sometimes you can learn true information about people from their social media accounts, yes. But on Wikipedia, information from reliable, independent sources takes preference. You can use any type of reliable source, including reputable news websites! However, Facebook events are generally not considered a reliable source; a good rule of thumb is to avoid relying on things from sites with user-generated content.
You can also use Turkish-language sources, as long as they are reliable ones. If you think there is a useful source but you don't speak the language, you could try inquiring at the relevant regional notice board. I'm not sure, but it's possible that someone might offer to help if you asked nicely. (I speak English and French, so if you you come across French-language sources, you're welcome to ask me for help.) You can also use Google Translate to help you; I do that sometimes when reviewing articles that have foreign-language sources. I hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have any further questions. /wia /talk 23:34, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Richard A. Kimball, Jr. Draft (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Richard_A._Kimball,_Jr.)

Hello Wikiisawesom,

I would like to ask as to which particular part of the draft you felt was copied? We'd like to further edit our draft with your guidance.

Thank you!

Itscamilla (talk) 23:29, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Itscamilla: Certainly! There are some very close similarities between the following sections:
  • "He also managed the company’s Advisory Board and Customer Excellence Forum and led the company’s first participation at the 2014 HIMSS Conference." Obviously you cannot change the proper nouns, but the sentence form and verb usage felt a little close to me.
  • "development of the start up healthcare technology business. HEXL develops population health programs focused on keeping the chronically ill stable, at home and out of the hospital." This is also very similar to the LinkedIn page, aside from a few words you've changed.
Keep working on the draft, and don't be discouraged if you're asked to make further changes! /wia /talk 23:39, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Decline for multiple reasons

Hi wia, I think it will be useful if there is a feature allowing us to decline a submission for multiple reasons just like we tag articles for speedies with twinkle. I know we can raise the other issues in comment but submitter may not take the comment seriously and may only fix issues, for which the draft was declined, and next time it will get declined anyway, wasting lot of time. What do you think? - Supdiop talk 14:12, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Supdiop: Hm, that's not a bad idea! I don't know much about how it could be implemented, but I suggest you mention it at WT:AFCH, which is where we often discuss the Helper Script. See if anyone has any suggestions there about the idea! /wia /talk 15:29, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 16:43:20, 3 June 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Mktkt

Hi. I'd like to request the deletion of the draft for "Holland Electronics". There aren't any good references or sources to justify notability. My mistake for ever getting it started. Sorry. Thanks. Mktkt (talk) 16:43, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
