Alaipayuthey is a Tamil serial and a soap opera that premiered on September 15, 2014. Airs Monday through Saturaday at 8:30pm on Raj TV. The series was originally aired in Colors TV as Beintehaa and stars Preetika Rao,[1][2] Harshad Arora,[3][4]Rituraj Singh.[5]

Plot summary

Usman Abdullah is a rich businessman, living in Mumbai. He lives with his wife, Suraiya; Fahad, his older son; Nafisa and Shazia, Fahad's wives and Zain, his second son. Usman's sister, Shabana, however is a middle class woman who lives with her husband Ghulam Haidar and her two daughters, Aaliya and Aayat in Bhopa l.After an incident in childhood, where Zain puts chewing gum in Aaliya's hair, both have been rivals and are cousins. Soon both reach a marriageable age. Zain is modern, charming, handsome, reckless and a rich spoilt brat; Aaliya is pretty, sweet, traditional, daring and well behaved. Zain hates the concept of love, does not believe in marriage and has many girlfriends. Aaliya, on the other hand, is convinced that love happens only once and it needs to be nurtured. Aaliya is to be married to Zeeshan Ahmed. After completing his education in London, Zain returns to Mumbai and his father tells him to go to Bhopal to convince Aaliya to accept some money, for her wedding, from her mamu, Usman. There, Aaliya mistakens Zain to be Zeeshan, her fiancé. This misunderstanding creates a series of confusions and eventually Zeeshan and Aaliya's wedding breaks up on the final day, and to save Aaliya from humiliation, Usman forces Zain to marry her.

Zain felt that by marrying him, Aaliya had stolen his freedom of being single and calls her calls her 'mamu ki bhanji' since he feels that she is only her mamu's bhanji and not his wife. They begin living like no husband and wife would ever imagine. He tries all the possible ways to get rid of her- he insults her, he puts up the pictures of his ex-girlfriends in their room, he tells her bluntly that he wants her to leave him and much more. But she refuses to budge.

Amidst all this hatred for each other, they both begin to share the relation of Tom and Jerry- they fight and play pranks on each other but can't do without each other. When situations arise, both unknowingly help each other solve problems. Aaliya also manages to impress Zain's friends.

Suraiya, Zain's mother, had always hated Bhopalis and thus disliked Aaliya. She would leave no stone unturned to get her out of Zain's life. At the same time, a new relation begins to blossom between Aayat, Aaliya's sister, and Rizwan, Zain's best friend. But there is love triangle between Aayat, Rizwan and Gauhar, who used to have a crush on Zain before. One day, Suraiya instigates Aaliya to leave Zain for good. Thus Aaliya leaves a goodbye letter for Zain and heads for the railway station to return to Bhopal. On reading the letter, for a moment, he feels incomplete without her and thus brings her back from the railway station before she leaves.

On seeing the distances between Zain and Aaliya, Usman and Fahaad decide to bring them closer. Usman says that if two enemies are left alone in a lonely place for a while, they either return as friends or lovers. Thus they send Zain and Aaliya alone on a picnic and the two end up getting lost in the woods. There they share some light moments. This helps to an extent and when they return, they begin to care for each other.

This is when Barkat, Zain's sister, enters the plot. Zain's subconscious mind keeps telling him that he is in love with Aaliya, but he refuses to accept his feelings. Barkat helps them get even closer by giving Zain a dare to take Aaliya on a date. But soon it is seen that Barkat is a fraud and nobody is aware of that. She also begins to create tiffs between Zain and Aaliya.

A circumstance comes up where Zain and Aaliya are stuck in a cold storage, after which they realise they love each other. They try several times to confess their love to each other, but in vain.This is when Aaliya's childhood friend and cousin, Zubair Qureshi, enters the story. On seeing the comfort level that Aaliya and Zubair share, Zain gets jealous. Soon, both the lovers are at loggerheads as both feel that the other one does not have mutual feelings. Thus, Aaliya decides to go to back to Bhopal for a few days. Zain and Aaliya miss each other and can feel each other's presence everywhere. On seeing Zain miss Aaliya, Usman tells him to get her back. When he goes to Bhopal, they both finally confess their love and decide to return to Mumbai. Zain renames his mamaoda marumakale as 'Zain's Maharani'.

Zain, Aaliya, Zubbair form an alliance and finds that Barkat is fake and she is Bobby,daughter of Mir Khan.Barkat's true identity is revealed by Zain and Aaliya and Barkat is shown the door. This is when Barkat exits the story. while suraiya is still believing she is barkat,but soon also she known the true.In a morning, usman and fahad were discussing about the renewation of zain's cabin, aaliya tells that she will renewate zain's cabinand usman also accepted.to renewating zain's cabin aaliya ask help to zubair and he agreed.to give a surprise to zain, aaliya making an arrangement for discuss about renewation in night time.this is when suraiya already have a doubt about aaliya and zubair's relationship.seeing all things her doubt was lead her to slap zubair and make zubair get out of barkat villa.then aaliya tells usman to check the renewation of zain's cabin and he agreed.then while going in lift, a sudden disaster made the lift workless.due this pressure, usman had been paralyzed.this is while there are some evidence for zubair is the thief.So police arrested zubair. To take this case the GOVT had arranged a lawyer rehaan khan. Rehaan khan is a very talented lawyer with his daughter zara and his son kabir while his wife was died.

Surraiya still hates Aaliya and does uncountable things to get her out of Zain's life. In this process, Surraiya insults Nafisa and she pledges to take revenge from Surraiya. Here a misunderstanding occurs between Zain and Aaliya as Zain thinks Aaliya has done something that in fact Nafisa has done which led to a paralyzed Usman Abdullah dying. Zain then divorces Aaliya but Usman Abdullah has transferred 51% of the property to Aaliya as security. After Zain has divorced Aaliya for the 3rd time, Aaliya transfers the 51% back to Zain's name and leaves. Here, Zain finds out that Aaliya is not at fault and regrets divorcing her. After knowing it he searches for Aaliya as she left him.

After a one-year leap, still Zain searches for Aaliya. Thereby, Saurriya's sister Zarina and his son bilal came from Dubai to occupy the properties of Usman.In hyderabad Aaliya runs a dhabha after leaving Zain with the help of Rehan. After so many enconters finally Zain and Aaliya meet each other in a marriage. To get back his Aaliya Zain works in Aaliya's dhabha. Aaliya tells Zain that now she hates him.She gives him three challenges to complete, in which the second challenge is Zain gives all his property shares to save Aaliya's dhabha but she still believes going with Zain will hurt her self-respect. That night her servants inform that her dhaba is on fire. Aaliya rushes to save Zain and sees that he is fixing the board of the dhabha. Then Zain asks for his third challenge and Aaliya tells him to be quiet and says I love you and they reunite. Suraiyaa sees them together and has the fear that they will remarry but then Zarina informs her about the halala nikaah.

After Zain and Aaliya reunite, Zain's look alike, Rocket, tries to take Zain's place, but gets exposed. In the climax, After a seven-year leap, they have a child called Zayed who is a rival of his cousin Kashish just like Zain and Aaliya were. Seeing them fight, Zain and Aaliya remember their journey from hate to love and live happily ever after.
