Two coincidentally homonymic surnames?

It appears that there are two different usually homonymic Hayek surnames: one originating in eastern Europe, the other in the Levant. Can anyone cite any references supporting or negating this? -JohnAlbertRigali (talk) 23:46, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Until there is an explanation, I will simply add that it is also found in the Levant, which is evidently true from the examples in the list. – Fayenatic (talk) 13:05, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

which Hayek comes to mind?

i suggest we separate the most notable Hayek and place it at the top, without objection i will make the change. Darkstar1st (talk) 06:47, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's easier to navigate when the names are in alphabetical order. Didn't know you were a Salma Hayek fan. TFD (talk) 17:35, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
she is actually the 3rd most popular usage of the name. i suggest we redirect and add a hatnote ala Keynes. Darkstar1st (talk) 17:55, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Salma's page has been viewed 97,897 times in the last 30 days:[1] Friedrich's 21,139.[2] Salma Hayek's article ranks 2,388 on Wikipedia for viewers. TFD (talk) 19:12, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
true, yet not the metric we use. our mandate is common usage, not wikipedia users, which she is currently 3rd. Darkstar1st (talk) 20:29, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
How do you determine common usage? Talk to your friends? TFD (talk) 21:19, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
you are my only friend and i used google. Darkstar1st (talk) 07:45, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
A Google search shows 4,610,000 hits for Selma Hayek[3] compared with 661,000 for Friedrich.[4] Maybe you have some sort of filter that keeps stuff out. TFD (talk) 08:03, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
you are searching first and last name, this article is simply hayek. try your search using the articles name. Darkstar1st (talk) 08:07, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Her pictures outnumber his on Google images.[5] Did you forget to unlock the parental controls? TFD (talk) 08:34, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What fun! I like the picture with the especially big.......sun glasses. WP:DDD recommends putting the primary topic on top. Salma has 234 page watchers & FA has 322. (Darkstar, I'm jealous. Couldn't I be your friend?) – S. Rich (talk) 17:31, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Also, FA's article is twice as long as Salma's (87k bytes v. 41k bytes). Even so, I recommend leaving the listing as is. Alphabetical. – S. Rich (talk) 17:42, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
