Your recent edits

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 11:51, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop with all the genre arguing

Hi there, I'm Serge, an Admin here at Wikipedia. You've only been here for one day, so I'll chalk this up to not knowing any better, but Wikipedia frowns upon people who just go around arguing about music genre. Genre is subjective, so its a waste of ones time and energy to go about arguing based on opinion alone. Because genre is subjective and open to interpretation, and because its the foundation of the entire website, we go by what reliable sources say, not our personal opinions. Otherwise, its just an endless cycle of people arguing and edit warring.

Basically, any time your suggest a change in genre without presenting a source, you're going to be ignored or denied, because that's now how it works here. Please provide sources for every genre you add or suggest. A list of commonly accepted and not accepted sources can be found at WP:MUSIC/SOURCES. Also keep in mind that a source not mentioning a genre doesn't necessarily warrant removal if other sources can back up the information.

If you continue to argue and change genre purely based on your own personal opinion, you will be blocked from editing for a time, as genre warring is considered disruptive.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 13:17, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think rise against is half melodic hardcore but more punk if you dont think they are not punk you should look at good charlote thats not punk just my opinion they are more punkJg9443 (talk) 02:09, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

good charlotte are pop punk and now pop rock, not punk. punk is sex pistols, d.o.a, agent orange, adolescents, early suicidal tendencies and many more. rise against is melodic and alternative rock, also pop punk now, not punk. Realpunkmusic (talk) 14:30, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dude punk rock is not about just politics theres gorila biscuits theres refuse and there is a moredern punk rock the mordern punk rock is rise against there is diffrent sounds to it get your facts straight.Jg9443 (talk) 19:55, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

i'm sorry but labeling rise against as hardcore punk is disrespectful, please listen to d.o.a, the exploited, the casualties, early suicidal tendencies etc to hear what hardcore punk sounds like. rise against are "melodic hardcore" at the most in their first 2-3 albums, then alternative rock + pop punk after that.
