"Don't Tell 'Em" is a song by American recording artist Jeremih from his upcoming third studio album, Late Nights. It features American rapper YG, and was released as the first single from the album. The song peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100. Internationally, "Don't Tell 'Em" also peaked within the top ten of the charts in the United Kingdom, as well as the top twenty of the charts in Australia and Belgium.

"Don't Tell 'Em" is an R&B song[1] written by Jeremih, Teris Vinson, Mick Schultz, DJ Mustard and Snap!,[2] and produced by Schultz and DJ Mustard. It contains an interpolation of Snap!'s 1992 single "Rhythm Is a Dancer".[3]

Background

Teris Vinson 'EMI Music Publishing, wrote the original version in 2013 before it was handed to Jeremiah, who released the recording 'Don't Tell Em in April 2014, right after he learned that Show Me (a song he helped write) went number 1 on the Billboard rap airplay chart.[4]

Remix

The official remix features Ty Dolla Sign and French Montana. A music video for the official remix directed by Eif Rivera was released on January 13, 2015.[5] Another remix was released featuring Pitbull. Other remixes includes Rick Ross, Migos and G-Unit. An additional version featuring Wizkid, Ice Prince and AKA was released as a free download. Ace Hood released a remix on his Body Bag 3 mixtape. Another remix was released by T.I. as well.

The famous Gypsy rapper Foku Me danced to the song.[6]

Reception

"Don't Tell 'Em" peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 in late October, becoming Jeremih's third top ten hit and YG's first top ten hit. The song was certified Platinum by the RIAA,[7] has sold over 1,170,000 copies in the US as of December 2014.[8]

In the United Kingdom, the song peaked at number five on the UK Singles Chart, becoming Jeremih's first top ten single in Britain.

Live performances

New Zealand singer Lorde performed a slowed-down cover of the song for Live Lounge on BBC Radio 1.[1][9]
