Miniclip, Miniclip.com, or Miniclip Ltd. is a website which develops and publishes browser-based games, with a staff primarily based in the UK. It was first launched in 2000. Most games are authored in Macromedia Flash or Shockwave. A few are written in Java (such as RuneScape, an affiliate of Miniclip). A majority of the games are free, and some are available for download. It is the world's largest online games website, with 27 million unique users per month according to Comscore Media Metrix, December 2005. It is also the largest privately held entertainment website on the Internet; its popularity originally arose from a game called Dancing Bush. The website had a new look applied to it in July 2006. Instead of a blue background a lighter background has been introduced.

Miniclip games include Beach Tennis, RuneScape, Club Penguin, RobotRage, Police Chopper, 3 Foot Ninja, 3 Foot Ninja II, Acno's Energizer, Alex in Danger, Alien Abduction, Alien Attack, All Out, Alphattack, Anagrammatic, Aqua Energizer, Heli Attack 2, Heli Attack 3, On the Run,Table Tennis ,MotherLoad, Sudoku, Gun Run, Bug on a Wire, Eggrun, Bush Shoot-Out and many more. Some games are available in their entirety on the site, whilst others have the option of downloading full versions at a price.
Forums
Alongside the games shown on the site, Miniclip also has a message board with designated forums for most of the games, and general discussion forums for topics such as sports, movies, jokes, and the recently added art forum. Administrators are normally employees of the Miniclip company.
Awards
Miniclip has won the Peoples Voice Webby Award for the best Games website on the Internet in the years 2005 and 2006.
Controversy
Several security firms report that some Miniclip games have installed a DLL "miniclipgameloader.dll" which contains the hostile code identified as "Trojan DownLoader 3069".[1] [2] Removal tools are available.
