Surprisingly, I came across a cover of the Batman theme by the Who. It is on their second album, entitled A Quick One, released in the U.K. in 1966. Their cover sounds almost identical to the original TV theme song. The album is available for listening on Napster. Can someone please add their name to the list of covers? Can this part of the article be cleared up?
"... ten cries of "Batman!", which were originally thought to be sung by a female chorus; however, Adam West's book Back to the Batcave reveals the "voices" to actually be instrumental, rather than vocal. These ten repetitions of "Batman!" were then followed by a coda of "Na na na na Na na na na BATMAN!""
Are they or aren't they vocals? Above implies that "BATMAN" is not sung, but rather played by an instrument.Lactoes (talk) 02:41, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- How does one play intelligible human voices with an instrument anyway? 194.100.223.164 (talk) 11:52, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- See article: Batman! (Jan and Dean song) (E-Kartoffel (talk) 08:44, 1 January 2009 (UTC))
- Adam West's claims are contradicted by another source. The LA Times article about the artist's death quotes a 1966 book about TV theme songs. The author interviewed Neal Hefti, the composer of the Batman theme song. According to that book, the song consisted of "bass guitar, low brass and percussion to create a driving rhythm, while an eight-voice chorus sings 'Batman!' in harmony with the trumpets". 68.81.215.166 (talk) 20:50, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
Simpsons Movementarians episode, "The Joy of Sect"
Can you please add that Homer sang a parody of this song in the episode "Joy of Sect" where he goes "Na na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na na Leader!" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.162.232.27 (talk) 12:33, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Na na na na Na na na na BATMAN!
"These ten repetitions of 'Batman!' were followed by a coda of horns, which sounded like 'Na na na na Na na na na BATMAN!'" I always thought that they were singing that. Maybe they're singing along to the notes played on the horns. --Robby the Robot (talk) 01:36, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
It's not really a "twelve bar blues" Here's the form: | G | G | G | G | | G | G | G | | G | G | G | G | | C | C | G | G | | D | C | G | G | | D | C | G | G | The underlined chords are "sung" The last G-chord is "cut in the middle", it follows the nananana-coda-part. - I'd just like to point out in the 1966 theme its Da Da Da Da Da not Na Na Na Na Na, I think the problem here is everyone is mistakenly attributing the Na Na Na Na which was actually uttered by actress Nancy Cartwright the voice of Bart Simpson in an episode of The Simpsons and is not really part of the actual theme song. If you click here you'll notice in this video of the 1966 intro the chorus is sing Da Da Da Da. TheGoofyGolfer (talk) 20:55, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
Common/ mistaken name
Added: Batman Theme is also refereed to by the sound root of the bass notes unofficially and incorrectly being named the buhnuhnuhna song.
Reason: common name/ mistaken from people who do not know of Batman trivia.
