VHS-C : "Removing thumb from infobox"

Hi,

What is the rationale behind this edit?

You state simply "removing thumb from infobox", which says what you're doing, but doesn't say why.

From my point of view, you've removed the S-VHS-C logo without explanation. It appears that it's quite possible to retain both logos without the thumb-like caption (which may have been what you objected to).

It might not be as technically elegant, but technical convenience should not take priority over content.

Ubcule (talk) 09:30, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Ubcule: Thank you for the message. First of all, the logo was not removed, it is still in the infobox. There is no need to have 2 logos, only one belongs in the infobox per the Style Manual. This is all part of cleaning out Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. If you feel it is absolutely necessary to include both logos, the 2nd logo can go in the article, but it doesn't belong in the infobox. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 18:43, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You said that "the logo was not removed". (We were discussing the S-VHS-C logo, so I assume you're referring to that).
As far as I can tell it *had* been removed completely in your edit, which is why I restored it. If I'm mistaken on this, please let me know.
Perhaps you could make your edit summaries more informative. Thank you. Ubcule (talk) 19:23, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Ubcule: Hmmm. Not sure what happened there. I've been editing like a mad man so it is not only possible, but likely that I had a typo in my edit causing the logo to totally be removed. Thank you for catching that! I have updated the edit summary I am using to say removing thumb from infobox per WP:INFOBOXIMAGE which should add some clarity. Thanks for your feedback! I really do appreciate it. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 19:38, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

removing thumbail from infobox

Hello Thanks for the message, the image link that i put into the article was the 'official link' given to me by wiki commons so if this contains a thumbnail as you mention and should not have then you might have a mountain of a project ahead!Racingmanager (talk) 09:51, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Racingmanager: Totally understood. Yes, the wikicommons give that as the link, but when using infoboxes you only need to give the file name, not the full file link. Thanks! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 18:44, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

West_African_Ebola_virus_epidemic

Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to West African Ebola virus epidemic. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). If you have any questions, let me know! :-) You can respond on my talk page, or here. If you respond here, please include @Zackmann08: in your response so I am notified. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 19:15, 19 July 2016

...thank you for leaving the above note, the problem is the image is too small for mobile devies--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 19:19, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Ozzie10aaaa: that is a fair point, however you do not put thumbnails in an infobox. Making the image larger just so you can see it on a mobile device is not a good enough reason to violate policy. When using a mobile device you can enlarge the image by clicking on. Additionally you can use |image_size=300px to make the image larger, which I have done. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 19:23, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

proposed deletion of Castiarina bella

Hello Zackmann

re proposed deletion of Castiarina bella and Castiarina crenata.

I see your point and will endeavour to add some more detail for these two. I propose that I have added my image and a link to distribution maps which is very useful.

I now understand that this type of information is better suited the wikispecies site and I shall work there in future.Martinlagerwey (talk) 02:20, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Kind regards Martin

Thank you for the information, please help me improve the page

Hi Zackmann08, thanks for the tip; will surely keep in mind. I am relatively new to the arena and seem to have missed a few points. I would really like you to help improve this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Deepak_Narayan_Amarapurkar so as to avoid deletion and help me get some confidence to contribute more and more in the future. Thanks.

@Zackmann08:

Why did this get changed back?Cubuffhelper (talk) 16:12, 25 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sand Fire

Why was namesake link in lead deleted (here) -- and, with no edit summary? --[dynamic IP]:2606:A000:4C0C:E200:1060:FB70:9FFD:8F0F (talk) 22:08, 25 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Because as previously noted in multiple locations that canyon refers to a different canyon in Kern County, if you actually read the page you would see that. Why are you editing anonymously when you are clearly an experienced editor? --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:22, 25 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Sand Fire, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page KABC (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
