Catscan 2

Hi,

First of all, thank you for your work on the tools in wikimedia labs. I would need to use catscan 2 for a schoolar work but I saw this morning the tools was down. Do you have time to fix it ?

Thank you.

WikiData - Terminator

Hi Magnus. Would it be possible to add Welsh (cy) to the Terminator tool please? Many thanks Jason.nlw (talk) 09:54, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Added, should run initial update today. --Magnus Manske (talk) 10:05, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Fantastic! Diolch yn fawr! (Thanks) Jason.nlw (talk) 13:08, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Magnus. I would like hungarian language (hu). Thank you! --B.Zsolt (talk) 20:38, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Magnus Manske Please enable Terminator for Kannada (kn). We had requested for this on git [ https://bitbucket.org/magnusmanske/wikidata-todo/issues/43/add-kannada-to-terminator here]. Thank you. Omshivaprakash (talk) 16:34, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

QuickStatements "sandbox"

Hi Magnus,

is there a sort of "sandbox" to try out QuickStatements online?

Nvitucci (talk) 17:39, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Try the sandbox item. --Magnus Manske (talk) 18:30, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
What if I want to try the creation of a new item? Is there a way to try this safely? Nvitucci (talk) 10:08, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Not really, but if it's just one test item, I say go ahead, then mark it for deletion. But it's just the same as editing, except you write CREATE into a line on top, and use LAST instead of Qxxx for the first "column". --Magnus Manske (talk) 12:09, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Monuments experimental tool

Hi Magnus. I love the Wiki Loves Monuments experimental tool and would also love to build on this work. Specifically I am keen to:

  • offer it with a Welsh language interface
  • add new campaigns as searchable content

Is it better that I:

  1. fork it then run a separate instance on Wikimedia Tool Labs, or,
  2. is there some way of collaborating on the existing tool please?

Thanks for reading. --Oergell (talk) 15:18, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Magnus, I have decided to try forking your code for my Welsh language adaptation. I know you are busy so don't worry about replying - but do feel free to let me know if you know a better way of doing this. Thanks again for your hard work on a cool project. --Oergell (talk) 15:26, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Oergell: I would recommend not forking this - having multiple versions virtually guarantees it's for the bin. To add new campaigns, all you need to do is edit Wikidata. I get the campaigns like this. Essentially, it shows all properties that are instance of:Q18618628. I am working on something for translation at the moment, I'm sure you'll like it :-) --Magnus Manske (talk) 18:31, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Oergell: See here. --Magnus Manske (talk) 12:59, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Photo

Hello, On the photo uploaded it was public domain-- it came from the internet, (Richard G. Thomas) but it was removed, by the delinker bot, okay with that. It doesn't have to be on the page, I guess I didn't upload file correctly; however the page is fine without it. I thought that photos taken off the internet were public domain and okay to use, sorry my mistake. -- Sam SamLippman (talk) 20:25, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The bot only removes uses of files that are already deleted. --Magnus Manske (talk) 21:34, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not in the other language down

Hi Magnus -- looks like "not in the other language" is down. Could you take a look when you have time please? --Rlandmann (talk) 04:26, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Rlandmann: Works for me. --Magnus Manske (talk) 18:32, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
WFM now too; thanks for checking. --Rlandmann (talk) 19:31, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

PagePile down?

Looks like it might be related to the SQLite database [1]. On the list of recent piles everything says "unavailable" MusikAnimal talk 05:18, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying the "new, improved" webserver on Labs, but it has some side effects. Switched pagepile back to the old one, for now. --Magnus Manske (talk) 14:03, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

QuickStatements down?

Hi Magnus,

it looks like QuickStatements is down. Can you check? Nvitucci (talk) 15:53, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing. By the way, is QuickStatements rate-limited? Nvitucci (talk) 18:11, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Abusing" QuickStatements

Magnus, is it ok to "abuse" QuickStatements to update/insert some hundreds of items? Any limitation there? Nvitucci (talk) 10:43, 25 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Considering that I used it on about half a million so far, fire away :-) Browser becomes sluggish if it's more than a few thousand though. Only one tab, two max please, think of RecentChanges! --Magnus Manske (talk) 16:36, 25 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Great, good to know! I've got another question: I don't see any way to delete or replace an existing claim with QuickStatements, is there one? NVitucci (talk) 07:35, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You can use PetScan for that. Get a list with Wikidata items, the option should show up. --Magnus Manske (talk) 17:21, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not in the other language

About the tool Not in the other language, can it be modified so that one more than one language could be added in the Not in language field? Ionutzmovie (talk) 00:13, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, this would be a very helpful feature to have. And it would be marvelous if the tool would also tell how many interwiki links articles have, which would indicate articles' importance. --M.Kaikkonen72 (talk) 00:18, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Listeria and Margaret M. Davies

Hi! Listeria has added Margaret M. Davies to the List of Women Botanists https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_women_botanists . However she works on frogs, not plants (it was a mistake on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Women_scientists/Worklist#Articles_to_be_created that said she was a botanist rather than a herpetologist - I corrected this now). However, please can listeria take her off the list of women botanists, please? MerielGJones (talk) 14:12, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ListeriaBot only shows what's on Wikidata. I have changed the offending statement and manually updated the list by clicking on "Manually update list". Both actions could have been performed by anyone. --Magnus Manske (talk) 17:26, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for doing that, and knowing the right thing to change. MerielGJones (talk) 20:56, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Deep out-of-sight on plwikipedia

Hello. Polish version of de:Spezial:Seiten_mit_ungesichteten_Versionen is pl:Specjalna:Zdezaktualizowane_przejrzane_strony. Could you possibly change it in your deep out-of-sight tool? Right now, whenever I click on category I am going to unexisting on plwikipedia page. Example: click. Thanks in advance, Tufor (talk) 18:56, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Changed it to the canonical English page, which will auto-resolve in all languages. Also fixed DeepInsight accordingly. --Magnus Manske (talk) 15:23, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicity

Hi :) I know I should write on BitBucket, but I'm not registered there, so... just wanna say that this one would be very useful :) every time I don't notice that the link already existed and Duplicity overwrites it without warnings. --Superchilum(talk to me!) 11:36, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Done. --Magnus Manske (talk) 15:17, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
