  • Comment: I would not resubmit as there's still nothing amounting to her own independent notability. SwisterTwister talk 06:32, 21 August 2016 (UTC)

[2] Maryam was named one of the 20 most influential pageant personalities in Nigeria.[3]

Early Life and Career

Maryam Elisha is the last of seven children, born to a now retired police officer father and a businesswoman mother.[2] She had her primary and secondary school education in Kano state before relocating to Lagos state to study English at the University of Lagos. Maryam was scouted by an agent and eventually worked as a model for close to eight years.[4][5]. While studying English Language at the University of Lagos, she entered and won the Miss Valentine Beauty Pageant, 2007.[6] In 2008, she was also crowned Miss Environment.[7] After graduating from the university, she proceeded to the New Jersey Fashion School, in the United States of America, where she trained for eight months.[4]

Rikaoto By ME

The brand was founded in 2009 and makes red carpet and evening dresses that are popular with Nigerian celebrities and pageant contestants. Several pageant contestants and winners in local and international competitions have emerged wearing a Rikaoto By ME design.[8][9][10] The year 2015 brought more publicity to the brand as it clothed quite a number of pageant contestants.[11] Rikaoto by ME recently added bridal outfits to her line.[12] The brand has also been invited to exhibit at various fashion shows.[5][13]

Save Tomorrow Today

Save Tomorrow Today, is a Non-Governmental Organisation associated with the designer, which was established in 2006 to care for the needs of children as well as mentor them.[2] Getting funding for her charity project was among her motivation to become a fashion designer.

As a model, Maryam Elisha was the maiden face of Airtel Nigeria (Zain), when it was Vmobile. She also modelled for other top brands like Delta Soap, Sterling Bank in Nigeria.[1] MTN Nigeria, Lucozade Boost and Diamond Bank are some brands she modelled for.[5] Rikaoto By Me was one of the fashion houses commissioned to make clothes for the ex- president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan.[14] She also serve as a judge on pageant shows.[15][14][16] Maryam Elisha was named Pageant Couturier of the Year at the 2016 Xperience Womanity Awards, which held in Enugu state in April.[17]
