Your Name (Japanese: 君の名は。, Hepburn: Kimi no Na wa.) is a 2016 Japanese animated youth science fiction fantasy film written and directed by Makoto Shinkai, with animation by CoMix Wave Films and distributed by Toho.[2] Masayoshi Tanaka is the character designer while Radwimps composed the music for the film. It premiered at Anime Expo 2016 convention in Los Angeles, California on July 3, 2016, and later premiered in Japan on August 26, 2016.[3][4][5] A novel also written by Shinkai that inspired the film was released on June 18, 2016.[6] At Anime Expo 2016, it was announced that the film has been licensed by Funimation.[7]

The film was number-one on its opening weekend at the Japanese box office, with ¥930 million in gross and 688,000 admissions. Including the opening day on Friday, it grossed a total of ¥1.28 billion.[9] It was number-one again on its second weekend, with 867,345 admissions and ¥1.16 billion in gross.[10] As of September 5, 2016, 10 days after the film's premiere in Japan, it has grossed a total of ¥3.8 billion.[11]
