Arab gulf states in Arabic (Arabic: دول الخليج العربي) or the Gulf states refer the the following six states Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates [1]which are members of Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and knowing as GCC countries. Also, there are widely knowing as the Gulf countries. [2]

The GCC is a union of six oil-rich Arab states that aimed at fostering better political and economic ties. These countries share a close similar culture and economic structure. The Gulf Arab states share a regional culture that is commonly referred to as "khaleeji (gulf) culture". They all speak the Gulf Arabic accent and share similar styles of music known as Khaliji (music), and same traditional dress, cuisine. All six states are also hereditary monarchies. Together, the area is home to about 42 million people. These countries dominated by massive desserts [3]

Dress

The adherence to the dress code is most prevalent in the gulf states,[4] which consist of the following:

Men

  • Ghutrah (Arabic: غتره) is a traditional scarf over woen over head by Arab men. Usually red or white and sometimes refer to as (Arabic: شماغ).

to provide protection from direct sun exposure, and also protection of the mouth and eyes from blown dust and sand.

  • Agal (Arabic: عقال) is black headgear worn over the Ghutrah to hold it in place, usually constructed of cord.
  • Thawb (Arabic: ثوب) is a long ankle-length, usually with long sleeves. They are usually white partcully in the summer. However, they come in diffrent colors.
  • Bisht (Arabic: بشت) is a traditional cloak worn over Thawb and only worn on special occasions such as official business meeting.

Women

  • Abaya (Arabic: عبائة) is a female's garment. It is a cloak (usually black) that worn in public over clothes and it covers the whole body except the head.[5] It comes in varying colours, cuts styles and fabrics.
