Shining Time Station was an American spin-off of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends series, although it was co-created by Britt Allcroft. The series aired on PBS from 1989 to 1993, but returned in specials in 1995 and as Mr. Conductor's Thomas Tales in 1997.

The kids who come to the station are Becky, Stacy's nephews Dan and Matt, and Harry's granddaughters Tanya and Kara.

Trivia

Shining Time is seen in the movie Thomas and the Magic Railroad. Didi Conn plays Stacy again, but Tom Jackson's role as Billy was handed over to Russell Means. The new Mr. Conductor is played by Alec Baldwin.

After the Episode "Tis a Gift", the original Mr. Conductor went to live with Mr. Nicholas at the North Pole. Mr. Conductor's cousin, played by George Carlin, took his place.

In the TV specials, Mr. Conductor's whistle and magic dust sound different from the sounds in Seasons 2 and 3. Both are lower-pitched.

In the episode "Washout", when the Thomas story "Bertie's Chase" is shown, the first scene (Edward waiting for Thomas) is omitted.

In Season 3 of Shining Time, the Thomas stories, usually had the original closing theme, the stories that used that were, "All At Sea," "Bulgy," "James Goes Buzz Buzz," "Thomas and Percy's Mountain Adventure," "Escape," "Oliver Owns Up," "Tender Engines, "One Good Turn," "A Close Shave," and "Heroes."
