Southwest
Just saw the new southwest rumors-that's awesome!! Where did you hear about southwest potentially beginning service? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.128.101.150 (talk) 15:41, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
- @74.128.101.150: Hello, I get all these rumours from Aviation Forums. Many of these rumours come from employs of airlines, but of course, it is hard to figure out their reliability. For instance, the DL changes were recently rummored and seem plausible, but we will never know unless they become true. As far as Southwest, for a long time, the word has been that WN was not intrested in looking at CVG, however this changed earlier this year when WN cut all DAY flights except MDW. The rumour has been that the flight would then be switched to CVG, however this has yet to happen. I think there is a high probability that WN begins operations at CVG within the next 1-3 years, though WN has fleet restrictions at the moment, and adding CVG would necessitate cutting flights from another city, which is too large of a gamble for WN at the moment in case DL matches fares. When WN aquires additional aircraft over the next few years it is very possible CVG will be the next add, as the largest market both not served by WN and not served by a mid-range low cost carrier. Got this invite, went to the page, and am not certain how to sign up. Do I just edit the lists and add my name? Cleveland Todd (talk) 16:23, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
- @Cleveland Todd: Just click edit next to the state and type the following without the quotes (") on a new line. You do not need any spaces:
- "#"~~"~~"
- This will put the following with your name and you are signed up:
- I hope that helps! Stinger20 (talk) 20:33, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
That was pretty easy. Thanks Cleveland Todd (talk) 16:43, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

New Challenge for Oceania and Australia
Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
Rollback granted
Hi Stinger20. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Widr (talk) 21:25, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
Verifiability
Thank you for providing the reference for the Anchorage Cargo flight - however please note that it is YOUR responsibility to add the reference not mine. To quote WP:VER. "All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and is satisfied by providing a citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution." WP:VER is a core Wikipedia principle and is not and can not be ignored. Andrewgprout (talk) 00:19, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
Air Canada Rogue
Hey-Air Canada Rogue is operating some of Air Canada's flights to Toronto next summer. How do we deal with this in regards to the destination/airline table? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:30A:C039:3180:6158:A580:2C1D:A016 (talk) 21:18, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
- @2602:30A:C039:3180:6158:A580:2C1D:A016: Can you give me a specific route(s) that this is occuring. I would think they should be listed as Air Canada Rouge, as all "Air Canada Rouge" flights are technically Air Canada operated by Air Canada Rouge. I do not know a ton about Air Canada, but that is what I would try. I will be on the look-out for how this issue is handled by other users. Let me know if anyone says anything or you try anything! Thanks! Stinger20 (talk) 01:02, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
Looks like 1 flight on Tuesdays starting in May-it may be other days of the week as well. Their website is a pain so I haven't spent much time looking. Google flights doesn't seem to show this flight on Rogue though-AC 7344. Typically I have seen Air Canada Rogue listed seperately from Air Canada/Air Canada Express, but I'm still not convinced this is a Rogue flight. Let me know what you think-thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jtaylor7309 (talk • contribs) 15:14, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Jtaylor7309: Just checking some surrounding cities, it looks like PIT will have this as well. On google flights its listed as "Operated by AC Express Airgeorgian", vs the typical "Operated by Air Canada Express Air Georgian". However, the flight number #7344 is an Air Canada Express Number, not a Rouge one, so I think we should continue to list the route as just Air Canada Express. If this changes, and a flight number in the 1000's appears, then I think you could separate the two operators. I find it very unlikely that Rouge would be operating flights to CVG given they normally fly to vacation destinations in the south and Caribbean. Let me know if you agree! Thanks! Regarding the "Delta hub" table at CVG article
Hello, you had said that there was consensus to keep the table here at the CVG Airport article. Could you please give me a link to that consensus? I tried looking through the archives at WT:AIRPORTS (in case it was there), but couldn't find anything. — Sunnya343✈ (háblame • my work) 21:00, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Sunnya343: It's actually in the CVG talk page, there was a discussion about former destionations on WP:Airports under Archive 14 about wether to add them. We tried having them on CVG as a test run and I think most agreed that this was too detailed and many routes were not notable, the list was subsequently removed and moved to the talk page. Then some editors decided "small" airports could have them, see discussion (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Airports/Archive_15#Former_Destinations), but these routes were not notable and were subsequently removed. Most of these discussions focused on the length, unverifiability, and unimportance. I then had a discussion with Tofuwitch11 on CVG's talk page, editing back and forth, trying to display the extent of the hub cuts at CVG. This list has gone through various stages, but with little participation except myself and a few other editors. The list, as it says on the page, is specifically the cuts Delta made as a result of the Comair Pilot Strike, Bankruptcy in 2005, and Merger with Northwest. It is not at all a list of former destionations as you said in your edit, its really the only way to show how dramatically Delta downsized CVG. For the average reader not knoweledgable in aviation, daily departures, hub rankings, ect do not mean a whole lot and does not differentiate the conditions of CVG from other dehubbed airports such as MEM, CLE, BNA, ect that never reached the same size or importance, wheras the list shows the fligths cut in a way you cannot find anywhere else. In addition, in response to the main complaints about listing former destionations, every route can be found on the sources provided. Eventually, I would like to replace the table with a map, as seen in the discussion, for mobile devices, as the list appears very long. So, its not really a defined consensus, but rather a refusal of other aviation editors to discuss the topic. As long as people are not willing to talk through these issues and come up with a solutions to convey what may be the most important information about CVG, I will continue to refine and edit how this information is presented. I think there are numerous other ways about showing this information such as: a map, combining mainline/connection service, ect. I have always favored the table, but I welcome any suggestions you may have for displaying this important information in other ways, as I think its clear you are against having the table. Southwest
Hey should we add Southwest to the Low Cost carrier expansion
Never mind you just did it! Lol
@Kartracer26: So excited!!! Stinger20 (talk) 21:00, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
American
Can you confirm/deny if the AA capacity expansion to DFW is to prevent WN from starting CVG-DAL? AA is adding about 100 daily seats each way in the market. Thanks!! Jtaylor7309 (talk) 03:33, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
@Jtaylor7309: I have been hearing from ramp workers in Concourse A at CVG that American was going to add mainline at CVG with MD-80's a few months ago, which was way before the Southwest announcement. I am pretty confident that AA was planning on launching mainline before WN announced service and I do not think WN was the direct cause. However, I think its likely that plans were modified and AA decided to go for 2x DFW as soon as possible to prevent WN from entering the market. I was expecting 1x-2x to CLT to be the first routes launched, but WN's announcement probably shifted their plans to DFW. DFW was operating with ERJ-145's on some frequencies, so it is odd that it was the route to receive mainline when CLT is operated with all CRJ-900's, but I would expect CLT mainline to appear sometime this summer. AA is upgrading a handful of other routes as well to larger aircraft, Miami is getting some ERJ-175's, while some of the other ERJ-145's are being phased out this Spring/Summer. I am expecting some frequency/capacity changes aimed at WN in the following weeks/months, but I am not sure this was 100% aimed at WN. Stinger20 (talk) 03:48, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
A Gates
Hey, have you heard anything about concourse A growth after the new gates open? I just saw the WCPO article and it sounds like the airport is definitely running out of room. With Delta refusing to allow other carriers in concourse B, and southwest presumably announcing an expansion in February (4 gates is excessive for 8 daily flights), it seems like the airport is stuck. Are there plans to use 1 jetway for multiple planes, and start something like A4A and A4B? Do they have any other quick fixes? Long term, the airport definitely needs to work quickly on building the west wing of the concourse-assuming they want the airport to continue growing! Jtaylor7309 (talk) 00:40, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Jtaylor7309: Since Concourse A will be maxed out starting this summer, I am not exactly sure what is going to happen. The airport is quickly trying to get the gates renovated in time for Southwest to launch service, so I would assume expanding Concourse A has to be moving forward as well. With American, Southwest, and United adding mainline flights, and Frontier/Allegiant already with all mainline aircraft, there are not many gates where they could use split gates, though I am sure its on the horizon. I think remote gates is probably the most likely solution, especially since Concourse A has the bus portals used for the Concourse C shuttle. Stinger20 (talk) 02:07, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

Thursday expansion
So if delta does announce a major expansion on Thursday, including LHR, to what extent do you see delta using CVG for connections? I would think that if delta continues to add thin routes for competitive reasons then delta would look into utilizing CVG flows more frequently.
Personally, I'm still convinced that the "big expansion" will be F9. There seems to be a flurry of activity in concourse A, and frontier's schedule only goes out to 6/6. They (frontier management) also like to hold press conferences on Thursday, so I guess we'll find out soon!! Jtaylor7309 (talk) 03:22, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
