Jaya Sri (sometimes abbreviated as Jayasri) is an Sri Lankan reggae band from Nattandiya, Sri Lanka currently in Vienna, Austria, formed in 1993. The band's current lineup consists of lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and percussion Rohitha Jayalath, lead vocalist and bass guitarist Rohan Jayalth, lead guitarist Herb Pirker, vocalist, keyboards and piano Biddu Faham, African & Latin percussion and backing vocalist Moses Afanyi, keyboards Parvez Sayed and drummer Sumal Fernando.

The seven piece band are multi cultured and they bring different music styles on playing by Reggae, Asian Dub, Ragga, Roots, Dancehall, Hiphop, Asian Chillout and traditional rhythms from Sri Lanka, India and Africa and different music elements of western music and Caribbean sounds.

Jayasri music was expanded in their homeland with Mille Soya (2004) film directed by Boodee Keerthisena and Machan (2008 film) directed by Italian oscar nominated director Uberto Pasolini and they won numerous awards for their works. They joined with Iraj Weeraratne to play Cricket World Cup 2011 anthem namedLion Nation.

Rohitha Jayalath is from Sri Lanka. He is also a architect, song writer, composer, arranger, live & studio musician and Disc jockey musician. He plays rhythem guitar, acoustic guitar and ethnic percussion.

Rohan Jayalath is from Sri Lanka. He is also a song writer, composer, arranger, live & studio musician. He is the twin brother of Rohitha Jayalth. He plays bass guitar.

  • Sumal Fernando (Drummer)

Sumal Fernando is from Sri Lanka. His grandfather is the late Sri Lankan veteran musician M. S. Fernando. He is also a studio & live musician. He plays drums.

  • Bidroho Faham (Keyboards)

Bidroho Faham is from Bangladesh. He is also a writer, composer and live musician. He plays keyboards.

  • Moses Afanyi (Percussion)

Moses Afanyi is from Nigeria. He is also a percussion teacher, composer and studio & live musician. He plays African & Latin percussion.

  • Herb Pirker (Lead Guitarist)

Herb Pirker is from Austria. He is also a composer and studio & live musician. He plays lead guitar and acoustic guitar.

Style and influences

The band's influences include Bob Marley, Tosh, Bowie, U2, Khan, Pink Floyd, Morgan Heritage, Prince, Asian DUB Foundation, Tony Rebel, Gentleman, Israel Vibration, Third World, Steel Pulse, Toto, Police, Sting, Coldplay, Lenny Kravitz and Red Hot Chilli Peppers as their artistic influences. But whatever their choice of music, they did not perform any of their influenced artistry songs. They bring an unique and different culture from other worldwide reggae bands.

The band brings a multi cultured music to reggae from various music rhythms and different ethnic music instruments such as Tabla and Sitar. The band has been categorized under many genres of reggae. Many reviewers said that the Jayasri is a good clash cultures because the band members from different countries and they bring different music cultures to the band.
