Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Comment
  1. Why does SineBot keep signing stuff I've already signed?
All comments should have a signature that includes both a link to your user page (slakr) and a datestamp (05:12, 20 August 2007 (UTC)) (per signatures - internal links). This is most easily generated by placing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your contributions, which makes something like "slakr 05:12, 20 August 2007 (UTC)". If you're still having problems after trying that, post a message to slakr.[reply]
  2. I do sign using ~~~~, but the result includes my username as plain text, not as a link.
You have probably changed the format of your signature. Go to "my preferences", then the "User profile" tab, and check the "Signature" field and the "Treat the above as wiki markup" checkbox. If "Treat the above as wiki markup" is checked, then the "Signature" field should contain wikicode, including something like [[User:Your Username|Your Username]]. If "Treat the above as wiki markup" is unchecked, then the "Signature" field should not contain wikicode.
  3. I don't want my comments signed by SineBot. How do I get it to ignore me or my talk page?
Please use one of the opt-out methods listed on its user page.
  4. SineBot forgot to sign something it should have signed.
Usually this happens because the bot isn't sure if it really should sign something, so it defaults to not signing it (e.g., in cases of complex edits). It does this to avoid being annoying. Other times, a comment might be made when the bot is down for maintenance, so the bot simply never sees it.
  5. SineBot signed something that it genuinely should not have signed.
Please let slakr know-- especially if you think it's not a one-time thing.

Messages were left by mistake. I was trying to revert unsigned vandalisms to my user talk page, either directly or through Huggle. Sine bot intervened and I did not notice that until later. Thus, the mistaken messages were left here. Sorry about that. Donner60 (talk) 03:13, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Messages were left by mistake. I was trying to revert unsigned vandalisms to my user talk page, all four which generated the messages were through Huggle. Sine bot intervened before I made the reversion and I did not notice that until a short time later. Thus, the mistaken messages were left here. I would have deleted these had I known they were being left here. Sorry about the group of these messages that I have left here recently. I have spent quite some time on vandalism review in the past few years. My user pages have been vandalized 664 times over that time so I suppose I may have left these messages a few other times by mistake. A sympathetic administrator stepped in just the other day on her own initiative and semi-protected my user page. Of course, this sort of thing can still happen to my talk page of sub-pages so I will try to be alert to it each time. Donner60 (talk) 03:13, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Glane23. I noticed that you made a comment on the page User_talk:Glane23 with this edit that didn't seem very civil, so I removed it. Wikipedia needs people like you and me to collaborate, so it’s one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Geoff | Who, me? 18:33, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
