Acharya Pre University College

Acharya Pre University College, or APUC, is a private co-educational Pre University college in Bengaluru, India, affiliated with the Karnataka Pre University Board (BU) and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Established in 2005, it offers seven undergraduate courses and nine postgraduate courses.[1]

Acharya organises the Acharya Habba, an annual two-day intercollegiate cultural festival that is one of the largest in Bengaluru and Karnataka.[2][3][4]

The Deccan Herald lists APUC as one of the "notable" colleges to apply the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to graduate management courses.[5]

History

The Acharya Pre University College (APUC) was established in 2005 by Premnath Reddy, Chairman of the Acharya Group of Institutions.[6] The college is managed by the JMJ Education Society, Headquartered in Bengaluru.[7] APUC offers Four courses. All courses are affiliated to the Karnataka Pre University Board (PU Board).[1] [8][9]

Acharya Pre University College is recognized by Government of Karnataka and approved by Department of Pre University Education Bangalore and it has been rendering the quality education to the needy for more than a decade. Located in Bangalore North district the college it has made a mark in the educational sector with its plethora of versatile and vibrant academic activities. The academic results have been very good and consistent in the qualifying examinations. Students get placements in prestigious Institutions. The holistic approach in teaching blended with the modernity has put the college on the top among 300 plus Pre University Colleges in the region. With a real and effective Proctor system in place, APUC has been able to make a mark in guiding both the students and the parents when it comes to building careers for the students. Round- the- clock monitoring of the students from a close proximity has been a hall mark enabling the students to get to the top of academics and all round development. Aspirations of students are nurtured and nourished very scientifically at APUC by imbibing the quality of eventful learning the skills and acquiring the knowledge.

In 2009, the college constructed a 3-kilometre (1.9 mi) long road from its campus to the Hesaraghatta Main Road. The road was inaugurated by Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Math in September 2010. It is named Acharya Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Road after former Indian President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.[10][11]

APUC - a jewel in the crown of Pre University education always ensures discipline and total commitment at character building, better comprehension of the knowledge and its social applications. It believes that a nation encompassed with the strongly built characters will stand out against all odds. The effective proctor system catapults the students to the crescendo of achievements. We nurture the thirst for knowledge, creativity, communication skills, open–mindedness, courage, conviction, self reliance, team spirit, leadership qualities and basic values of humankind in a systematic way.[12]

On 16 June 2012, the college hosted India's firstHeavy metal music festival as a part of Bengaluru Open Air 2012 backed by Germany's Wacken Open Air at the college stadium. German Heavy metal bands and Teutonic thrash metal bands like the Kreator and the Suidakra along with an American Power metal band and Indian metal bands namely Kryptos, Eccentric Pendulum, Dying Embrace, 1833 AD, Bevar Sea and Albatross performed in the fest.[13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25] Although Iced Earth were scheduled to perform at the fest, but backed out due to the denial of Visa by the Indian embassy.[26]
