John Sherman

[edit]

Senator John Sherman (1823-1900)

Created/expanded by Coemgenus (talk). Self nominated at 12:47, 3 September 2013 (UTC).

  • Wow, I did a double take when I saw this because I didn't believe that the John Sherman would be DYK-able. We have to stretch the rules just a little bit (allowing a full week for expansion, rather than just the five business days) and I am A-OK with this, given the magnitude of the effort. Terrific work.
  • The new version of the page is extremely well-sourced and well-Wikified.
  • The hook is interesting, formatted correctly, and can be verified here.
  • I can't verify the book sources, so we'll accept them on good faith. Stretches of the article that I can check against my historical knowledge seem to line up. I think we can take this one on good faith.
  • This is just totally awesome work and I recommend we give it top billing by including the photograph with the hook. And it's not every blue moon you hear me say that about a dead white guy. groupuscule (talk) 05:00, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
