Padman is an upcoming 2018 Indian Hindi comedy-drama film directed by R. Balki, featuring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in lead roles. Amitabh Bachchan will appear in a special role.

Plot

The film will be based on Twinkle Khanna's book, The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad[2], which is inspired from the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham.[3]. Tamil Nadu-based social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, revolutionised the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine.[4]

The film was expected to release in April but took a three-month jump to an earlier release date.[5]

In November 2017, Sony Pictures became the global distributor for the film.[6]

Filming

The shooting of the film started in March 2017.[7] Principal photography of the film started in Delhi in April 2017.[8]

Release

The film is set to release in India on January 26th, 2018.[6]
