Which doggies do you have a problem with on this revised list? They are coming directly from this Template:Pastoral_dogs IQ125 (talk) 18:04, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
The Template (which I've not seen before) has many errors. If you had done a quick search on the breeds you removed and the ones you put in their place, you would have seen the issue. the following removed breeds are all recognized Livestock Guardians with corresponding Wikipedia entries and other sources:
- Abruzzese Mastiff
- Azawakh
- Bakharwal Dog
- Mongolian Bankhaar
- Sage Koochee (Kuchi Dog) (there is some discussion over the proper name here. Both are used interchangeably by native speakers))
- Tobet (Kazakhstan Mountain dog)
- Torkuz (Uzbekistan Mountain Dog)
These breeds you added are not LGDs as confirmed by their Wikipedia entries as well as their various fancier's organizations:
- Bernese Mountain Dog The Berner was a "Drovers Dog" ie: used for moving dairy cattle, as well as a general farm dog.
- Cão Fila de São Miguel Cattle Dog and Farm watchdog in the Azores. There were no predators to guard against so the dog was not used as an LGD.
- Greater Swiss Mountain Dog The Swissy is pretty much just a short-coated Berner and had the same uses. Not an LGD
- Hovawart Estate watchdog. The current breed is basically a conglomeration of other breeds that was reconstituted in the 20th century.
- Landseer Newfoundland Fishing and Water Rescue dog. Some claim that it was also used to guard fishing boats but this is disputed.
- Leonberger This has been hashed out before in the talk section of the article. There is plenty of documentation showing them not an LGD breed. They were "invented" after the decline of European stock predators.
- Puli Hungarian Herding dog. It's been mistakingly listed as an LGD due to the fact that it was used to guard camps and farms but its primary job was a herding dog and it was partnered with the Hungarian Komodor.
There were two that you added that are correct and have been overlooked before:
- Carpathian Shepherd Dog
- Kumaon Mastiff or Indian Sindh Mastiff
Side note: The " Armenian wolfhound" is a Gampyr variant that is not used for LGD work. They are specially bred for hunting and are taken from Gampyrs that have issues with stock but are good fighters. BigWhiteFireDog (talk) 19:02, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
