Shane Waldron (born August 17, 1979 in Portland, Oregon)[1] is an American football coach who is the current tight ends coach & pass game coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He was previously the tight ends coach for the New England Patriots of the National Football League and coach for the Washington Redskins.[2]

Early years

Waldron attended La Salle High School in Portland, Oregon. After a year at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, he played football at Tufts University as a tight end and long snapper from 1999 through 2002.

Notre Dame

Waldron served as a graduate assistant for the University of Notre Dame from 2005-2007.

New England Patriots

Waldron then was hired by the New England Patriots and worked under head coach Bill Belichick, also a Phillips Academy alumnus, as a football operations assistant. In 2005, Waldron followed Patriots offensive coordinator Charlie Weis to the Notre Dame as an offensive graduate assistant and was promoted in 2008 to offensive coaching assistant. He was promoted again to become the tight ends coach in the 2009 season.

United Football League

He left the team after the 2009 and later joined the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League. Waldron was the recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach before being promoted to offensive line coach for the University of Massachusetts Minutemen.

Los Angeles Rams

On February 2, 2017, Waldron was hired to be the tight ends coach for the Los Angeles Rams, under new head coach Sean McVay.

On January 30, 2018, Waldron named to Pass game coordinator, after Matt LaFleur become Ofensive coordinator to Tennessee Titans. Head coach Sean McVay promoted offensive line coach Aaron Kromer to run game coordinator and tight ends coach Shane Waldron to pass game coordinator in order to help fill the void.
