ManyVids is a Canadian technology company that operates in the adult industry.[3] It specializes in the development of live-streaming, cloud and real-time communication technology. Headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, ManyVids was founded in 2014.[1] It offers services and solutions designed to help adult content creators develop their businesses.[4]

The ManyVids platform provides solutions for content creators to set up and manage their online profiles. Content creators signed up with ManyVids are commonly referred to as MV Stars. They are able to upload videos and pictures for members to purchase and download. ManyVids also hosts other features such as setting up an online shop, offer paid memberships, sell texting and phone call services, and set up crowdfunding campaigns. The MV Stars also have a wall for members to write on, and a section where they can link their social media profiles. [5]

The ManyVids office is located in a loft-like space in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. With over 80 employees, the office has a cafeteria with an on-site chef, an exercise room, and 7 meeting rooms. No adult content is filmed in the ManyVids office.[1]

History

Founded in 2014, ManyVids started as a site focused on selling videos uploaded by models registered on the site. Each model is able to set up a profile, where they can sell their video clips, as well as upload pictures, and provide other services to clients such as custom videos, Skype chats, and texting services. Models can also set up a store where they can sell items such as panties, dildos, and other sex-related products.

In 2016, the company launched its in-house magazine, the MV Mag. It is an erotic magazine that showcases models from ManyVids, with interviews, as well as other features that vary depending on the issue. It is free for members and the models for download from the website.[6]

Since mid 2017, the company has also branched out to producing non-adult content involving models on MV, the first being MV Pop, a video series on Youtube that features MV's models in short skits with mild sexual themes.[7] In November 2017, The company launched its own content production studio space, the MV Loft, located in Montreal, where models are invited for 3 days of photoshoots, live interviews, and more.[8] ManyVids also produces and broadcasts a podcast from the MV Loft, called MV Podcast. It is a weekly, hour long interview with cam models and pornstars, hosted by trans comedian Tranna.[9]

Late 2017, ManyVids expanded to include live streaming in its product offerings. Currently, the live streaming feature, named the MV Takeover, is set up a a single camroom that allows one model to take a 3 hour slot at a time. Like other cam sites, registered audience members are able to leave tips while chatting with the model in real time.[10]

Celebrity Partnerships

In September 2017, ManyVids partnered with American model and activist Amber Rose in support of The Amber Rose SlutWalk, a non-profit advocacy organization that works to end slut-shaming and to spark a conversation on women’s empowerment and LGTBQ rights.[11] Amber Rose was the first celebrity to appear live on the MV Takeover platform.

In November 2017, ManyVids named American television personality Farrah Abraham their newest MV Ambassador to promote sex positivity.[12]

Campaigns

In July 2017, ManyVids joined the Day of Action to Save Net Neutrality, a movement for Net Neutrality organized by the nonprofit organization Fight for the Future. ManyVids launched a campaign called the The Internet is Mine to promote the movement.[13]

In November 2017, ManyVids launched the We Are Many campaign[14] to help raise awareness of the issue of abuse against sex workers. The campaign culminated with a donation of $11,800 USD to the Sex Workers Outreach Project USA to help them end violence against sex workers.

In December 2017, ManyVids donated $5,000 USD to the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection to demonstrate the adult industry's commitment to helping parents prevent children from viewing age-inappropriate content.[15]

MV Community Support Hotline

ManyVids launched an in-house hotline dedicated to supporting their MV Stars. The hotline is staffed by an in-house Support Worker. It is a free and confidential resource that MV Stars can use when they need emotional or psychological support, want to ask questions about the industry or need to find local resources.[16]
