Faridpur Engineering College (FEC) is a public undergraduate college in Faridpur, Bangladesh, established in 2010. It is located in the Baitul Aman Faridpur town of the Faridpur District. It is affiliated with the University of Dhaka under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

History

Construction of the Education Engineering Department began in 2005, with the government of Bangladesh financing and implementing the project. The main work was completed in 2010, but electricity and water connections to the complex were not made until 2013.[1]

It joins Bangladesh's government engineering institutions which were previously only BUET, CUET, KUET and RUET. Faridpur Engineering College was inaugurated by a minister of local government, rural development & co-operatives engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.

Students started studying at Faridpur Engineering College in 2014; initially, 120 were admitted. [2]

In 2016, there were concerns that permanent teachers had yet to be appointed.[3]

Affiliation

Faridpur Engineering College is affiliated with University of Dhaka under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.[4]

Campus

All departments are accommodated in a multi-story building on a campus of approximately 12 acres. There are 10 buildings including an administrative building, three faculty buildings, a cafeteria, a bank, a post office, a library, and an auditorium. There are also three residence halls for students.[5]

Laboratories are available in various departments of Faridpur Engineering College. They are modern, updated and well equipped. Students can use the following laboratories, each under respective departments:-

Scholarships opportunities

Each semester, the Government of Bangladesh awards scholarships of 1,950 take per student by his or her CGPA (Top 35 in per batch or department). After graduation, students receive further opportunities to study abroad through scholarships awarded according to the University of Dhaka's merit list.

Admission procedures and entry requirements

Entry to undergraduate courses of Faridpur Engineering College is controlled by Dhaka University. The process of admission into FEC is highly competitive and needs a high academic score at the S.S.C. and H.S.C. level. Selection of the students for admission made through a test and consideration of GPA in S.S.C. and H.S.C. or equivalent examinations. Students also get a chance to take admission according to merit. Every student takes a highly competitive admission test under the technology unit.[6]
